What about "Abbott and Costello"? Can we use that? Imagine this on the jersey. It would be epic! Looks like Sherrod and MPG :--).
Its John Doyle and crew, what do you expect. Imagine having to depend on JD spearheading a charm offensive for you.
Yes, but with a major Bay Area presence in Santa Clara and Redwood City. But it's for the medical device side of their business, not pharma.
So, what you are saying is, that the sponsor doesn't have to necessarily help our brand, it just can't hurt it. Nice save.
On the plus side, ala the big ass Amway shirt we used to have up at BuckShaw, the FO could have a DNA strand put up near the main gate.
Personally, I'm good with Isis. Just not ISIL or Daesh. Know what I'm sayin'? And with the Rosicrucian Museum in town? Yeah, this could be cool, and wouldn't she look good on our jerseys? She's even wearing blue! Go Quakes!! - Mark
I'm saying a really cool sponsor we'd like to see, doesn't need really need to be on our Jersey. I would hope that a brand that wouldn't look too cool doesn't end up on our Jersey, but I'd bet the pool of companies that would benefit from being on our Jersey, and are willing to pay for the opportunity, gets pretty small when the "cool" filter is applied. Hence the delay.
Genentech is a subsidiary of Roche. The fact that nobody knows that (and that everybody pronounces the name wrong) would make them a great candidate for this kind of thing.
Holy cow, who hasn't Roche bought? Once upon a time, in a former life, I worked for a local medium-sized pharmaceutical company that was bought by Roche.
I assumed that FU was referring to Genentech, since even its own employees can't seem to agree on how to pronounce it.
Heard from a couple people last week that the jersey sponsor deal is signed. Dont know who, but I was told it is in the healthcare industry. Sounded more like an insurance company or medical provider than pharmaceutical. And that it was just over $2,000,000.00 a year for 2 years.
I'm still going with my first guess... Invitrogen merged with Applied Biosystems and morphed into Life Technologies, which is part of Thermo.
If the deal is signed, not just in the works, why not tell us? Obviously the word is getting out. Just not enough of it... I am sure they appreciate our support, but it goes both ways!
Stryker was in the running at some point. The Quakes even had their logo plastered all over the stadium. Maybe a subliminal nod to generate more offense...
Didn't d-Kav say at the end of the season, so brilliantly by the way, "you almost can't have too many strikers". Maybe he is really commuted to that strategy!
