Miazga rejected Red Bulls contract offer

Miazga wants around $500k next year to consider staying, but Red Bulls would only give it to him if he extends his contract a few more years. Miazga seems like he'd rather make less next year and take his chances as a free agent at the end of 2016.

Not really sure why Miazga expected a raise without an extension, if he's basically telling the club that he's leaving at the end of 2016 no matter what then why would we pay him? Now the odds of him staying the entire year seem very slim since the club will have to sell in the winter or summer to get anything for him.

Damn it. This would mean we need to focus on getting 2 young and incredibly talented CB's in the off season.

What's your threshold for "young"? I would rather have at least one experienced CB in his prime (27-29 range) to act as the leader for the back line.

Sorry. I should have said "prime".

I know the world isn't perfect, but if it was we'd have one prime aged CB and one CB that was mid 20's or younger. Once the "prime" CB ages out you immediately have another "prime" aged CB and then you sign another younger CB. Rinse and repeat.

Actually, given the situation, the team might as well sell him in January for as much as they can get, regardless of destination. If he wants to go, go. There's no point in keeping him when he's already set on leaving. And frankly, I couldn't care less about the destination if it's only about money.

Corboz just doesn't seem to fit the stereotypical soccer roles. He was good at Rutgers (who aren't good) so transferred to Maryland (powerhouse). Was overshadowed by Metzger in the midfield last year. Reading Terp fans game comments, Corboz is rarely mentioned. He's not the exciting player anyone hangs their hopes on, he's never the goat of the game either, just quietly solid at what he does.

He was named first team All Big 10 and no one talked about it. I'm just trying to figure how he goes from being a top 50 player to a top 10 draft pick so quietly.

It's cool though. I thought Lade was a solid college captain but too small for the pros. I smile and mentally laugh at myself the first time he takes the field each season.

It sounds like at the very worst Corboz could fill out the bottom of the roster for a few years and actually offer some production (if you compare him at all to Lade).

I'm fine with that. The more local/academy kids we can have the better IMO. I'd rather have them than a journeyman.

Who has some decent, informative mock drafts to follow?

Any rumors circling around about the new kits for 2016?

Yes, I am grasping for SOMETHING here.

They've made some good moves here. Fresh young bodies, bred with the Red Bull mentality and available without using the draft. It's the wave of the future.

Would love to see Najem and Basuljevic, too:D

One more thing to add, more strategically speaking. These HG signings can basically happen at any time. It'll be interesting to see if need based signings or perhaps those based on form come into play in the future. One example would be any of the U-18s playing for RBII really impressing. Especially if that player is a say a real wunderkind, a 16 year old, not yet committed to a college, instead taking the direct route.

According to Ives they also offered a deal to Najem, but he declined. He's looking at opportunities in Europe.

Sigh. It will happen on occasion. Still, I wouldn't be surprised to see him at camp later on, if things don't go well ala Bonomo.

That's a big haul, especially if that's 4 roster spots on the senior team.

Etienne is the big one for me, after showing his stuff at the USL level. That's exactly the path we want people to take - Academy, play up at USL while with Academy, and then sign directly with the team or get that 1st semester of college in. I think that's a big plus, personally. It may be the first/only time a guy is away from home, living on his own.

Allen, I wanted signed 2 years ago. Hopefully, he continues to score at the next level and hopefully it's for NYRB.

Draft picks beware - roster spots are limited here :)

Be fun to see if any of our other Seniors get drafted.
