A fair amount of interest in Tracy for his lottery tomorrow: http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/09/12/mls-reveals-eight-clubs-participating-tracy-lottery New England Revolution: 33.2 percent FC Dallas: 19.7 percent Philadelphia Union: 16.8 percent Real Salt Lake: 9.7 percent Chicago Fire: 7.8 percent New York Red Bulls: 6.1 percent San Jose Earthquakes: 4.6 percent Seattle Sounders: 2.1 percent
Any news on this? FCD could use some depth at striker. I heard this was supposed to be announced at like 10 EST, but we're well past that...
I'm not sure what the delay was, but it was just announced that he is a Quake. http://twitter.com/MLS/status/246297596056989697
http://www.sjearthquakes.com/news/2012/09/earthquakes-win-marcus-tracy-lottery San Jose gets Marcus Tracy - he may not play much there for a while but at least they do not have field turf which would not be good for his knee issues.
I guess the rich keep getting richer. Don't know how much playing time he will get there. Much rather have saw him land with a club that really needed him, like Philly.
love it! we'll take good care of him.....we have a good track record with rehab projects, most recently Dawkins, Gordon, and possibly Opara. He'd be #4 forward, but how often Lenhart/Gordon are injured/suspended you would be surprised how much time he would get as a first option off the bench type.
Coming full-circle-ish: The SoccerViza Family grew in number this month with the addition of Marcus Tracy, one of the most respected American players of his generation. Marcus has taken the helm of the Business Development and Creative Content department. http://soccerviza.com/soccerviza/readnews.aspx?id=564 Still just 29.
I remember the headers he'd win! Dude would just out jump everyone. I remember when Tracy, Cody Arnoux, Mike Grella, Anton Peterlin were the next great hope of college soccer players to become European pros.
Those were the days to be covering YAs. It was a little before I started writing for Yanks Abroad, and it was that generation of players (the ones I was envious of, being of my age group) that got me reading the site before I worked up the gumption to apply to write.
I got to watch Marcus Tracy in the 2004 State final vs his now coworkers Funicello and Cenatiempo and he was a man amongst boys. Even though he is a few years younger than me, I got to play with him (Marcus) and his brother in a couple of tournaments and he was always a standout player. Shame about his injuries. Both Funicello and Cenatiempo are heavily involved in youth development here in Connecticut and the kids love Joe as a coach.
Really unfortunate about the injuries. I really thought out of the 2009 NCAA class he had the best chance to carve out a nice career in Europe. Aalborg was a good situation, decent team to start with & had a chance to springboard onto better leagues & clubs had it worked out, but Alas. Glad to hear he's giving back to the game.
