The highlights of Fortuna Hjorring - Brescia:

Oddily, they didn't show the two big saves at the end of the match from the Brescia second GK Ceasar (by the way, she'll turn 18 next mont...), that kept the score at 1-1.
Didn't find anything about Rosengard - Verona so far.

Looking at the highlights, Fortuna was better of the two but Brescia had much more luck. I guess only Slavia and perhaps Frankfurt - caught on another bad day - are within Brescia reach in next round.

Starting with the video posted by Gricio61, I followed some links to post-match interview. I have to say the must funny one to me was the one with GK Ceasar: when she says that in the final minute she was... dying and she was "mentally ill" and "out of breath", I was dying too, but with laughing! It was the way she was saying that, mostly, I am sorry that probably most people here don't know italian enough to understand... :giggle:
I would have liked to see the saves Gricio61 is talking about... Hopefully there will be some Danish highlights somewhere later? :cautious:

Interesting that the winner-goal was scored by Lisa Boattin, a member of the U-17 NT who reached third place at U-17 WWC in Costa Rica, last year. I guess this generation of players could do a lot to make Italian women's football mouvement grow (as long as they receive support by their federation, indeed).

Talking about Ceasar I'd like to know more about her, I think (correct me if I'm wrong) that she's playing for Romania NT?....From her interview it sounds like Italian is her first language, did she's born in Italy?
Anyway, I didn't understood everything she says but it seems like she's still can't believe it...

Yes Debzy, Camelia Ceasar recently played all the matches in the Romanian U19NT, unfortunately the team couldn't go through the qualifications group...She's born in Romania, but came here with her family when she was very young, so we can say she's perfectly bilingual, as can be seen in her Facebook fan page. She's very promising, even at international level, but we have not to forget that she's only 17, and can perform very well as well as make bad mistakes, how you can see in the highlights of last Sunday match.

LOOOOL ...so they give the two supposed "less" strong opponents to the two favorites and completely separated Germans and French clubs till the final...loooool...Well I guess everybody are happy with the draw:rolleyes::whistling::ninja:.
Anyway, Rosengard - Frankfurt and PSG - Barcelona are extremely open to any results.

For having an "open draw", the fact that we got 1-8 and 2-7 by coefficients seems rather odd...

But not any more odd than any other combination.

X-D True, comparing one combination to another would show they're equal.

But if I've done my combinatorics correctly, there are 105 ways to draw 8 items into 4 pairs, i.e. 8!/[(2^4)4!], and only 9 of which have two "seeding-accurate" pairs included. And to be fair, 8.6% isn't unheard of for being realized, just interesting to see - I'm curious now as to how past QF draws went this way to see if we were "due" or not. Also, the fact that it's the "outside" two of the seeding-accurate pairs just makes it look more impressive, though mathematically there isn't a difference which two seeding-accurate pairs fall out.

Correction: I think there are 18, not 9 combinations that have at least two "seeding-accurate" pairs in them. So we're talking about one in every five or six years having a random draw produce two seeding-accurate pairs. Reasonable enough; just looks funny considering that this time it's the "outside" two, but again that's just an impression and not actual math.

Alright, let me actually go and find those QF-pairs-by-coefficients now...
    2016: 1-8, 2-7, 3-4, 5-6
    2015: 1-2, 3-8, 4-5, 6-7
    2014: 1-3, 2-6, 4-8, 5-7 (Tyreso 7)
    2013: 1-7, 2-4, 3-8, 5-6 (Wolfsburg 8)
And unfortunately no-one seems to have linked the old coefficients on any of the older Wiki pages... Just looking at the QF teams in 2012, though, I'm guessing we didn't get a seeding-accurate pair there either, but I have no real clue. Just by highlighting Tyreso and Wolfsburg, I think that it's clear the coefficients, while generally good for making pairs in the early rounds, still aren't quite sufficient under a system with still relatively few interleague games (and not enough qualifiers from the top nations).

And now for something completely different...

Have a list of current quarterfinalists who are not in position to qualify for next year's UWCL based on current league position:
--Frankfurt (4th behind Bayern, Wolfsb, & Essen!!)
--PSG (3rd behind Lyon and Montpellier)
--Barca (3rd behind Athletico Madrid and Athletic Club [Bilbao]!!)
--Brecia (3rd behind Verona and Mozzanaica)

PSG and Brecia are very close to 2nd in their leagues, though, so they're relatively safe, but Frankfurt and Barca either need to win this current UWCL season or kick their domestic seasons into gear if they want to qualify for next season.

    =edit=
Maybe I shouldn't find Bilbao such a surprise - they've been top3 in Spain every one of the previous 13 seasons except the 02/03 season and they've been within 4pts of qualifying for the UWCL three of the previous four seasons too.

i haven't missed an OL ladies CL match since 2009 but i'm not going to this one.

it's being played in the new 60,000 seat stadium which should be good news. but they've gone and attached a concert to it and in consequence a seat like the one that i got free as a season ticket holder in gerland costs FORTY-TWO EUROS (sixty for general public).

what's more, the different shuttles they run for men's games out to the back of beyond (the new stadium is out in the sticks - the wilds of darkest décines) will not be operating. the only public transport solution would take me about an hour... to get within about half a mile and walk the rest.

to add insult to injury the concert is by some guy called christophe maë. i'd never heard of him but even though i'm old i'm no fogey - most of the music my kids listen to i find pretty good (though a little tame compare to what we used to like). so i deezed him up...

no voice. no rhythm. 60 seconds of one song, 15-20 of two others... all sounded the same. elevator music. not even.

désolé les biches, cette fois ça va pas être possible.

    Re-evaluating...
Frankfurt (3rd behind Bayern & Wolfsb) is the only quarterfinal team currently not in a qualifying position for next year's UWCL based on domestic competition. However, they're only one point behind Wolfsburg (but thirteen behind Bayern). On the other side of the coin, Barca is level with Madrid on points for 2nd in Spain (Bilbao is currently in first, but by just a point! It's certainly a race in Spain right now). Brescia is four points clear of 3rd in Italy and PSG is five points clear of 3rd in France.
Sparta Praha is an interesting case as they've qualified for the four-team Championship Round of the Czech first division but no games in that round have been played yet. Two teams will qualify from that round.

they've got this young punk as the new stadium manager who has lots of BIG ideas... all stupid. meanwhile the nitty-gritty things like getting out the cards to season ticket holders, making the turnstiles work, signposting the way to get back to the right shuttle... all fiascos. fan reaction the day this guy gets fired will be almost like winning the league. if he gets under a bus it will be like winning the champions' league.

He's not the greatest singer, but I thought he was very good in the musical "Le Roi Soleil." He was the only one in the cast that actually had to sing and dance at the same time. (Strange to think it's been over 10 years since it debuted...)
