nicely taken goal by Cerny to seal the points but it may be too little too late with Fenerbahce winning against Molde. Will need Celtic to beat Fenerbahce and a win over Molde to stay alive and I cannot see that happening. Need to go finish cooking Thanksgiving dinner so I'll be brief with the player ratings.

Cillessen (9) - stopped everything that he could get to
Dijks (7) - OK, but he's had better crosses
Riedewald (6.5) - a couple of bad positions but generally above average
van der Hoorn (4) - responsible for the goal and almost cost another in the 2nd half
Tete (5.5) - poorest game in a while, too many last ditch tackles for me
Gudelj (5.5) - generally just above average and nothing more
Klaassen (5.5) - some really bad touches that cost the team
    Schöne (5) - poor match
Younes (7) - good until the last 10 minutes when he tried to do way too much
Milik (6) - nice goal but little else
Fischer (5.5) - should have had a goal but bad call by the linesman
Cerny (7.5) - really good speed and movement, nice goal
van de Beek (6.5) - played decently coming on for Schöne
Sanogo (5.5) - had a nice chance to do something with the ball on a couple of occasions

That's it, for all the American Ajax fans, Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I suspect he gives Overmars part of his wages.

Fell asleep during the second half and missed Vd Beek and Cerny. :( Heard they did good though.

Tete played another perfect game imo. Like Kieft said, he can play in ANY team in the world and do fine. This guy is amazing. Cannot remember ever seeing anything like him.

^^Tete was poor in the 2nd half which is why I didn't score him high this match. He got beat twice pretty badly and the 2nd time went in with a lunging tackle that drew a yellow card and a free kick from just outside the box. While I agree with you that he will be a top notch right back, he did not distinguish himself in this match.

Cerny was really fine, showing some very nice speed and finesse. van de Beek is better than any of the substitute midfielders currently on the squad.

He's under contract for three and a half more seasons. Why would Ajax even think about selling him now? Only way he does is if someone puts in a stupid high bid

He "might" be fit for the match but if so, likely would not start.

    disgusting

  12. How can we beat terrorists when we cannot contain these hooligans which for the most of them are known by the police and pretty much predictable.
With the idiots on either side still at large I prefer another 5 years no away supporters in 010 and 020.
    Sad but no alternative.

0-2 win on a wind swept day in Zwolle. Ajax kept their poise on defense thanks to some very good play from Veltman and Riedewald in the middle to keep a clean sheet. 2nd goal from the most unlikely player on the pitch, Serero who might want to give Fischer some lessons in how to finish. The team was definitely a step too slow because of the trip to Glasgow for the Thursday night Europa League match.

    Player Ratings:

Cillessen (6) - only one semi-tough save on the free kick but otherwise untroubled though he did have to do too much kicking into the wind during the 2nd half
Dijks (5) - nice first half but teetered on the edge when Becker came on for Zwolle in the 2nd and Dijks could not defend him at all
Riedewald (7) - some silly fouls but tough in the center when he needed to be
Veltman (8) - not a single bad play all match long and cleared any ball that came near him in the box
Tete (6) - again some poor positioning at times during the match
Gudelj (7) - pretty solid match as the holding midfielder
van de Beek (6.5) - needs to be a little stronger on the ball but not too shabby in his league debut
Klaassen (6) - much better 2nd half after some very poor touches in the first
Fischer (3.5) - forwards get paid to finish, Fischer did not earn his paycheck today
Milik (5) - average and no better
Younes (6) - kept his eye on the ball on the cross from Dijks to get the first goal but missed the easy chance earlier
Cerny (6) - lively coming on for Younes and tracked back on defense well unlike Younes
Schöne (6.5) - some wonderful touches coming on late
Serero (6) - put away the goal that sealed the deal

    Home to Herenveen next weekend.

Cerny is a greater talent. Dekker is a classic left winger with a good cross, but has a lot of trouble when trying to get past players.

They finally did it. The (anti-Cruyff plan) board of directors ha managed to sack Wim Jonk. As of today there is no one on board who, honestly, want to carry on the Cruyff plan.

That Cerny looks like a top player for the future be nice if they could get Fisher to be more consistent

I think Fischer will come good. The injury set him back quite a bit but you still see flashes of his talent. He missed out on some crucial development time so now it's about getting his confidence back and drawing out the talent.

Bazoer and el Ghazi both back in training today. Not sure if they will be ready for the Heerenveen match.

Yes, he's played striker on a couple of occasions when there were injuries. I think he would be quite effective as a #9.

He has enough pace to play as a ST not that fast for the wing though but he reminds me of Bergkamp with some of his movements now I'm not saying he is Bergkamp but the potential is there

And is Nouri still a player there?

Yes but he's not playing on the first team yet. He's been a starter on the Ajax team that is progressing in the Youth CL and just defeated Spartak Moscow. I'm hoping he gets some first team action later in the season.

Lots of good players in the Ajax Academy

Lots of NT depend on the Ajax Academy

In my opinion Benfica and Ajax have the best youth teams in the youth CL
