There is no reason the 3-5-2 has to leak goals like that. Our player pool begs for a 3-5-2 as we lack true fullbacks
Games have been close, but we haven't dropped even a point at T&T with a full-strength team since the 1980s. The only two times we dropped points, we were fielding B teams after having already clinched advancement (once to the Hex, once to the World Cup).
Best half I've seen him play in a long while. He also struck that half-chance that went over the bar really well.
Here is the thing about JK, he used Reams as a backup LCB for over a year even tho Reams was playing LB, now that he is playing CB, JK puts him exclusively as a LB.
What does this mean? They are beating our backline for pace regularly and are better on the ball. It is ni mystery why they look the better side. They actually look comfortable on the ball and are taller, faster, stronger and more aggressive than we are. The only thing we are doing better is movement and energy conservation.
Maybe the older guys know better, but I don't remember many US teams 'dominating' T&T away. The first half, if we could find some composure on the ball at a couple of key positions (why so few good ball handlers on our teams? why?) we would be much better.
I'll agree. For all practical purposes Yedlin is like a weaker version of young Cobi Jones. Bradley is about as strange a footballer as freaking Thomas Muller. And it actually does seem like this current group has the potential to be the worst team since 1998. Yedlin, Zardes, and Altidore just aren't working currently...we need to find people to put around Bradley and Fabian Johnson to make the offense work. I'm really not sure this midfield would stand up to Harkes, Dooley, Ramos, and Sorber...
