"Over the last couple of weeks Johan Cruyff has had medical examinations at a hospital in Barcelona. Lung cancer has been established. The investigations are still ongoing," a statement from Cruyff's management company read.

"On behalf of the privacy of Johan and his family and the fact that the investigations have not been completed, further announcement at this time can't be given. We hope you'll respect the privacy of Johan and his family. When investigations are completed, we'll announce the details."

No mention about todays fixing scandal suggesting someone on behalf of Real Madrid approached one of the linesmen for the upcoming El Classico to give the decisions to Real !!

It's an interesting development coming so soon after Diego Simeone's suggestion that the authorities will conspire to help Real Madrid win something this season ..

Anyone else here follow Pinto on Twitter? He's just owned Marca after they posted some rude joke about him.

I forget if we have any buy back rights so I'm putting this in former players (not loaned out / sold with buyback rights, though we may well have some rights: Kone, whose partnership with fellow striker Romelu Lukaku continues to flourish, will claim the headlines -- but the influence of winger Gerard Deulofeu was key component in only Everton's second home league win of the season. Deulofeu opened the scoring and provided two assists before being withdrawn to a standing ovation just past the hour, while Kone remained to take the plaudits at the final whistle after bringing his tally to five goals in six league starts.

Every placed I've read says we have a buy back clause, but only these two cited figures:

Pedro was shockingly bad AGAIN for Chelsea today . I'm honestly thinking that maybe we ( Barca) simply MADE him look good !!

Funnily enough Bojan on the opposite team ( Stoke ) showed again how he's improved his all round game zinc leaving ... I'd actually welcome him back here now ..as a squad player ...

I didn't watch much of the game but Pedro did hit the post once. He just stepped into a team in freefall so it's really hard to say anything.

Meanwhile, Deulofeu had a perfectly weighted, defense-splitting assist today that led to Everton's only goal.

You guys would be foolish to not have Tello come back a local Catalan and has been impressive before and after a horrible injury seems to have his form back

I can't believe we let him go !
He was developing nicely and offered something completely different . I still think he could be an amazing player .

Denis Suarez was on loan at Sevilla last season. now he's at Villareal ... can't remember if on loan or sold with buy-back. barca would have brought him back for this season but FIFA wouldn't allow it because of the transfer ban. he just played against us today, he was the one that drew the foul from pique that resulted in his yellow card

I haven't watched a lot of him, but yea. he's a promising young (21 yrs) playmaker who has been compared to Xavi. i don't know how seriously Barca is looking at him (he's probably one of many that the club is scouting) but i guess that will depend on how he develops at Atletico. this is his first season in the first team at Atletico. he impressed during a loan spell at Porto last season. Simeone seems to have a lot of faith in him.

Here's a good profile on him

    from the article:
"He has been compared to Xavi more than once, and a move to Barcelona seems like a predictable career choice. After all, he is a childhood fan of the club, citing Brazilian Ronaldinho as a huge influence growing up, and it has also been reported that the Catalan giants have first option on the player as part of the deal that took Villa to the Vicente Calderon in summer 2013."

More about the Barca retirees, one club men, 2 from Barca and 2 from ManU, then there is Zlatan working on his 6th club and about to Bosman somewhere else next season:

He would be great as a 4th forward, Larsson type, plan B, etc. but he (and his agent Mino "pizza king" Raiola) want to go somewhere they can demand a king's ransom in salary (esp. as no tranfer fee), where Zlatan can be assured PT. So not going to happen here.

Under LE he may thrive . Imagine Ibra as central striker , Suarez on the right , Neymar left and Messi central but slightly deeper , pulling the strings , sliding through balls to whoever and going on his matey runs when possible .
