Frisbie can play multiple position, and will be there all year to develop.
Spencer, Nice tandem for hagen while Morgan is gone
Buczkowski - At 30, I'll take my chances.
Toni Pressley - Not everyone has to be an established star. You have to develop some youngsters at some point.
    Bianca Sierra - I passed!!!!!

As for the internationals. Well get them now while you can. And you still have room for 7 more players that aren't going to the OLY G's.

When was the last time Frisbie played multiple positions in the NWSL? I know we like the kid cause she came from Seattle but there's no way Orlando should waste a pick on her. I can see picking Spencer as Morgan will not be around all year but I rather go for Nick. She could be a good player especially of they select Sanderson.

I do not think at this stage Buczkowski has it in her to play for another team again. She will as soon retire. The risk is too strong with that one.

Pressley flat out is not a good player. Don't even waster time and energy on her. Go with the younger LaPonte.

As for the, why will Orlando waste international spot on Australians who from the rumor I hear on twitter may not even be available at all next year.

    LOL

I was wondering about the Austrialians wanting to play in Florida anyway. For that matter, it seems a huge trip for them to play regularly anywhere in the US, much less adding a few more hours onto the flight by being on the east coast.

I would expect Orlando internationals to be Brazlian, if at all possible.

Given what's left on Portland's list, I'm not real sure that Orlando would take anyone. But the article does seem to hint that maybe the Thorns would like Orlando to take her. The only one I had listed as a possible was Shim, so she does indeed seem to be part of the deal.

I had discounted Sanderson because of her hair. :) Certainly an outgoing personality could help the team transition and maybe take the focus away from the troubles of an expansion team.

The complicating factor is that someone could get taken in the draft to use as part of an after draft trade, so that will likely blow up any of our lists. But we have to try. To this end, I have gone through each list of unprotected players. Also, the coach has some knowledge of the USWNT and the Canadian NT pools, so that's a factor. Here are the players I see as possible picks, based on a thorough hour of research and no film study whatsoever...

The basis is that overall the theme will be to go young, but I'm looking for at least one veteran defender and I am now assuming that Sanderson gets picked along with Harris. That limits us to seven other picks (Harris, Kling, Sanderson). I would expect one forward to be picked. Possibly a GK, but I'm leaning towards the backup GK spot being filled from the draft or a FA. The good news is that if we get Sanderson, we only have six starting spots to fill and seven expansion draft picks. The bad news is that we need a bunch of defenders and some more midfielders.

I went over to read Tatiana Coleman's Twitter account, and she has an interesting but perhaps meaningless tweet about making a difficult decision which ultimately results in ending up in paradise later. That was a few hours ago. Reading way too much into that, I'm gonna mark her down as a draft pick and probably the only attacking player taken by the Pride.

I've decided my veteran in the middle will be Taryn Hemmings, but that is difficult because Chicago seems to have the most players available. Still, I want the veteran in the middle. I need a second CB, and I can't seem to find one. Still I think Barczuk has the size to fit the bill, so I'm taking her.

I was looking for a Brazilian, and found a nice fit in Camila left unprotected by Houston. Fills a need on the outside of the defense, is very young and fits the market brilliantly. To fill the other side I'm going with the Candian Rachel Quon.

Already down one in Boston, and Sierra is possible. But I really like Maddy Evans as a player that can play both midfield and defense and I want to save my international spots, so I'm going to take her.

That only leaves one pick, and there are a half dozen good choices. Elizabeth Eddy and Jenna Richmond seem like solid picks for the midfield. Leon from Chicago could be a good fit, but we've already taken two from them. Finally, there is Pressley who does have the advantage of going to school at FSU. But I might be able to acquire her on the cheap after the draft. So I'll take Eddy, since she also has experience on defense.

    Kling SEA - To Thorns
    Harris WAS GK
    Sanderson POR MF
    Coleman WNY F
    Hemmings CHI D
    Barczuk BOS D
    Camila HOU RB
    Quon CHI LB
    Evans BOS D/M
    Eddy WNY M

Here is what I'd do now that I know who's available and what Orlando already has:

    1. Meghan Klingenberg (obvs)
    2. Ashlyn Harris (because I have to)
    3. Lianne Sanderson (seems a foregone conclusion)
    4. Abby Erceg (best of the available CBs)
    5. Adriana Leon (hey, she's free)
    6. Maya Hayes (though she did well at outside back with SBFC, so that's where I'd pencil her in)
    7. CoCo Goodson (if she'll play, if not Haagsma to get another experienced CB)
    8. Rhian Wilkinson (another free one and fills in an available spot)
    9. Eddy (fills an available spot, and her versatility is useful)
    10. Nick (no starting spot for her, but it sails the ship)

So the starting lineup could look like this:

Funny thing, the only player from my original lineup on this one is Kyle...

I like this list, and Erceg probably takes a spot in my list as a CB. But why the near retirement but free Wilkinson over the 24 year old and free Quon at the same spot?

Just not at all impressed with Quon, and then I'd have to find another outside mid to replace Leon and that's a fairly limited selection* (I know WNY used Spencer and Fields there a couple times, but they didn't impress me). I figure Wilkinson might play a year or two and during that time Orlando can try to acquire a better LB (perhaps from Washington, for example).

    * (I should also add, my list was assuming FCKC and Orlando had an agreement to not take any of their players, so that Silva is off the table; otherwise I'd've picked her for the Leon spot)

Ok, but I don't see that one happening. Better a 24 year old than a 33 year old, though in this league even 24 yos can be fickle and up and retire at a moment's notice.

Why Erceg (who takes up another international spot) instead of Hemmings or dare I say it Pressley?
I mean it would really surprise me if Orlando wasted an international spot on her.

    Pressley - Whatever :)

I just realized that Pressley is from Melbourne, a stone's throw from Orlando. Her odds just ticked up ever so slightly. Though I'm still thinking the team may be able to acquire Pressley after the draft pretty easily.

Seems like a possibility. As much as you might not be a big fan, she's young she costs no money. Hard to replace free with someone of equal value.

She is also local to Chicago.... so she might cost more out of market.

Canadian NT allocated player, so that would cost Canada more money if anyone, right? Why would I care if I am Orlando?

That said, I suppose there is always the retirement threat.

I don't know that she will be allocated. She hasn't made any rosters....

It's too bad Orlando can't grab Dydasco as well as Harris from Washington. I'd think that she would be a great possession style attacking left back that Sermanni would use well in his system.

Why do you not think they could trade for an outside back who spent most of last season on the bench? I don't think it'll be impossible.

Like I said, it's more than just the comparison of the two players age. Find me another outside mid that can replace Leon. The options are really limited. I guess the team could go for a 4-3-3 and get another forward, though I think Morgan and Hagen are better suited to the 4-4-2.

Well, anybody is better than Pressley. As for Hemmings, I don't know that she would want to move. So I figure Erceg is more certain to play. If they had Hemmings assurance that she would, then sure she's a fine option.

I don't think it'll be a big deal in an Olympic season to use 1 of their international spots on her. Plus they can always trade for another if they run out.

It's too bad they decided they'd rather have Harris than 2 people from Washington. They probably have the best unprotected list other than FCKC. They could've still grabbed a keeper by picking Wys and then also gotten Dydasco.

Canada doesn't seem to care. Ezurike was also allocated and she didn't make the WWC roster either. I wouldn't be surprised to see D'Angelo allocated either, if McLeod decides to play abroad.
