So we have those awesome matches that day and whatever matches are on Sunday. Then we have a bunch of Champions League matches. Then Thanksgiving which to me means a lot of American Football. I am going to be the least productive man on the face of the earth from about the 21st until the 30th.
Well, so much for watching this weekend's La Liga on the DVR when we get spoilers like this. Plus BeIN shows these teams every week so I'm not sure why pointing this out is necessary.
Just realized that Thanksgiving Night is tapped off by my beloved (but painful to watch this season) Bears at Green Bay at 7:30pm. Nice!! SA www.soccertvblog.com
Sorry. I wasn't thinking about that. I would never post an actual score in this topic. I know the clubs are on TV every week but it's not every week that the top two play each other and it's not every week that somebody other than Barcelona and Real Madrid is in the top two.
Start times for MD3 and 4 for the CONMEBOL qualifiers have been posted on Wiki but I couldn't get verification on either the CONMEBOL or FIFA websites. But if Wiki is right, Matchday 3 will be staggered over 2 nights - Thursday and Friday (12-13 Nov). This would seem to give BeIN the opportunity/excuse to show Argentina x Brasil on both TV channels w/o giving some other game the shaft. It's the only matches this season taking place while North America is not in daylight savings time, so the games are a bit earlier than they would normally be. 12 Nov: Bolivia x Venezuela 3:00 ET Ecuador x Uruguay 4:00 ET Chile x Colombia 6:30ET 13 Nov: Argentina x Brasil 7:00 ET Peru Paraguay 9:15 ET 17 Nov: Colombia x Argentina 3:30 ET Venezuela x Ecuador 4:00 ET Paraguay x Bolivia 6:00 ET Uruguay x Chile 6:00 ET Brasil x Peru 8:00 ET
If something this innocuous posted 24 hours after this weekend's games were over somehow spoils results for you, it's best you stay off the internet for life.
Well, Bein's Connect website has been out of sorts. They say saying say don't have the channel in in my package even tho I do... And their app is useless. Crash...after crash...after crash
Well, I'm torn. BeIN lists Atletico-Valencia on the English channel so I set it to record only to find the recording is Fiorentina-Roma. While I'm ecstatic to have this game with English commentary (my DVR was set for the Tuesday BeIÑ broadcast of this), I would have set the DVR on BeIÑ for Atletico-Valencia. Either way, here comes my usual move, why is BeIN (English) even in this situation when they could schedule both instead of endless runs of 90in30 repeats of Barca, Real, PSG, and Juve. I have to think the ratings on these 90in30s is lower than the ratings on the infommercials playing to people who have fallen asleep with the TV on. Up next we can look forward to edits of League Cup matches if any go to ET/PSO since it's important to repeat Express Extra.
Too late for me to edit and add this but c'mon we really need the El Clasico bug junking up the screen this far in advance. I've said it before and will repeat again: Anyone who regularly watches the network knows that the El Clasico is coming. Anyone who just drops in won't remember that there's 27 days until the match. Maybe go with this shenanigans a week out if at all. Use commercials during before pre-game, half-time, and post-game.
Had a League Cup semi-spoiled in the last round because it was obvious it was being edited down to make room for ET and/maybe Pens. Kinda tough to schedule cup reruns appropriately. Maybe do an express extra for an hour after doing a first airing and bin the Extra if it does go to added time?
I remember when Fox Sports World had MLS games. My memory is hazy here, but there was one MLS game that went into the then-full 100 minutes. Because FSW had the game on delay, they showed the full 90 and then the host came on and said "because the game went long, we won't be able to show you the extra time." With that said, I miss FSW. The sad thing is that there's no channel that really replicates it by showing a variety of sports from all over the world. The good news? There's more soccer than ever before. Instead of one or two Bundesliga games every seven days, we get a plethora of them. We get every EPL match. We get a ton of La Liga and Serie A. I'm sure GolTV or someone shows Brazilian and Argentine leagues. Just about the only thing that FSW showed that we *don't* get is USL and NCAA which were time-buys anyway.
If you want Argentine league, tehy show ALL games free on their Public TV service that's run through youtube.
The closest channels I can think of to "showing a variety of sports from all over the world" are beIN and One World Sports. As for Brazil and Argentina, Gol TV will show "Sao Paulo X Sport" from Brazil this weekend. They also have Uruguayan soccer but I don't see anything from Argentina.
I thoguht they were ALL of them? Even second division matches? I may be wrong though... It is pretty cool though
Yes, you get ALL Argentine primera division games on YouTube. You also get almost all second tier games (Nacional B). NGSN also shows ALL Argentine Primera Division games in both English and Spanish. The video quality on NGSN I superior. For Spanish, NGSN uses the same audio feed as YouTube. The regionalized third tier (Primera B Metropolitana) is shown on TyC Sports which also uses YouTube for some overflow games. Argentine football is pretty well covered.
I agree that these domestic cup games in early rounds aren't easy because there aren't replays. If a game goes to ET or penalties then a schedule is screwed up whether the match is live or aired on delay. But I look at this situation with the following considerations: (1) BeIN buys domestic cups because they think the matches will have some traction among viewers. That belief shouldn't change. And what else do they have to show during mid-week? More 90in30s and multiple broadcasts of Express Extra. Neither is very appealing. I look at it this way, if I want to know football news, I go to the Guardian Website. I'm not waiting around for Express Extra. But I can't go to the Guardian Website to see a game. This is the market that BeIN has cornered (broadcasts) so why not maximize that unique quality instead of trying to compete with other news outlets. (2) I'm sure BeIN has a cadre of interns who can update the data for the on-screen and on-line guides and send updates. I have no idea how long it takes for that data to populate service provider guides. But once a cup match goes to ET, adjust the remainder of the day's schedules by cutting repeats that don't need to be shown (domestic league matches from the previous weekend, 90in30s, reruns of Express Extra, highlight shows that have already aired). Again, if I have cornered some kind of market, why am I going to mess with something else?
I always wondered where that myth that mid-weeks are quiet came from. Just yesterday we had 8 Serie A matches kick-off at the same time, which never happens on weekends.
This week was obviously a bit different because Serie A was running instead of having the days used for Coppa Italia. Most mid-weeks are dead for BeIN because they don't own rights to any of the continental cups. Had this week featured Coppa Italia instead of Serie A then less games would have been played since Coppa Italia seems to be a quicker competition relative to what BeIN will actually air. But none of that undermines how BeIN schedules these games. I'm cool with them showing Serie A matches that aren't repeats from the previous weekend. My problem is that they don't adjust the schedule to account for ET/PSO for cup games but instead just edit the games. Those edits keep the 2-hour blocks but once the night progresses the programming that has been saved is not programming that is exclusive to BeIN in the USA (i.e., matches). Instead, they are saving time for news programming (again, widely available elsewhere) and edited games (can't be more of an audience for Barca 90in30 than a full Serie A or League Cup match).
I got good news. Connect works for me now. All I had to do is delete the sites cookies using an addon.
Rafa Uncein is back behind the mic. Usually hosting a few odd games and shows now. I guess that's fine by me...
BeIN's Saturday schedule is atrocious. After starting the day in fine fashion, 8:30PM-3:00AM ET on is a combination of Weekend Extra, 90in30s (for games already airing multiple times), and repeats of the same games. This is insane. They could air Valencia-Levante or Villarreal-Sevilla on delay, more English Championship matches, Ligue 1 matches that won't air at all or won't air until early the following week, Russian league, Swiss League, any other sport. 8:30pm 90in30 Juve-Torino (aired in full earlier in the day) 9pm 90in30 Getafe-Barca (aired in full earlier in the day) 9:30 90in30 Reims-PSG (aired in full on Friday night) 10pm Express xtra weekends repeat 11pm Real Madrid repeat from earlier in the day 12am Express extra weekends second repeat 1am Express extra weekends third repeat (although this could be the same second repeat because of the time change) 2am 90in30 Juve-Torino second airing of this 2:30am 90in30 Getafe-Barca second airing of this This kind of schedule would be fine for BeIN Connect since there are multiple BeIN Connect options, but for the 2 TV channels this is a joke; it's as if that idiot who runs this station in Miami is playing an April fools joke on viewers. I mean, why show another La Liga match that already has commentary or why show Saint-Etienne (which will also have commentary) when uninteresting things could be shown? Show the Lyon match instead of waiting until Monday or Tuesday morning. I start to wonder if BeIN USA is like that horrible movie that MLB Network loves to show: Brewster's Millions and the goal is to lose as much money as possible during the second half of every business day.
