Tonight's attendance: 42,947, a #NERevs regular-season record.— New England Revolution (@NERevolution) October 18, 2015
The trolling he does is getting so old. If you think its bad here you should see the crap he posts in the TV thread (where things are certainly much less rosier than attendance).
I know. I read the TV thread for a short while and realized he was one of the most persistent glass-half-empty posters I'd ever seen. I have no problem with reality checks. But, it's a check because it's a unique insight... this is just gainsaying, weak and boring. Therefore, <plonk!>.
If we miss the 20k median because of this I'm going out to SLC and kicking 101 Mormon asses. Repped for excellent use of "gainsaying."
I wish they had more, but they are also guaranteed at least one more home game. So hopefully they can sell out the next one.
Definitely true, though I think that effect has lessened a bit recently. I think the playoff format still does plenty of teams no favors. You may have teams who don't even know they are going to be in the playoffs needing to turn around and sell tickets for a Wednesday nigh game - that is NOT easy. Then you have educated fans who know that if they win Wed they will host on the weekend, and they might roll the dice and decide they'll go the weekend game if Wed isn't convenient for them. I still think our playoff format sucks. Single elimination would solve a lot of issues.
Well, a nice week-end run for certain in terms of 20k median. 4/4 on Sunday courtesy of DC, NYRB, Hou, and LA. Also went 2/3 on Sat with TFC and NE beating 20k and RSL narrowly missing. 0/3 midweek and 1/2 Friday brings us to a 7/12 week. 11 games left, and I believe we need to go 5/11 to have a 20k+ median. 1 game is mid-week (SKC hosting Colorado) and I doubt we hit 20k for that, though it is a big game for SKC. Being pessimistic, let's say we need 5/10 on the week-end. Philly has a home game, and they can't hit 20k, that leaves us needing 5/9. Good news is we have our heavy hitters with 3 home games: Seattle, NYCFC, and Portland. Can't imagine Seattle or Portland falling short, but wonder a bit about the eliminated NYCFC. Still, seems like 2 for certain, with 3 a good bet. That leaves 2-3 more. Count me in for Montreal hosting TFC. Doubtful for the Fire home finale, even against NY. Columbus has a decent shot with DC in town, but not a gimme on Sunday. Out West, SKC hosting LA for the home finale seems a good bet, as does Vancouver fighting for a bye at home against Houston. FCD has a chance (at the moment) to win their first SS if NY stumble, hope that is incentive. Really, I'll be stunned if we can't get 3 20k+ games out of NYCFC, Montreal, Van, SKC, Clb, and Dallas.
10 minutes ago I decided I would like to go to Montreal for this match...went to their site to check on ticket availability and was told there were none available....so I think you may have a lock on that game.
And still less than Orlando, who claim the title for best opening season in MLS history (for now), with 32,807. NYCFC could sell out Yankee Stadium on Sunday, they still wouldn't reach 30k.
