I was just curious which club is really really popular. More than just the club of the moment. Which club does Ireland think of when they think of the Premiership? Thanks, Patrick
There's no one club really, just the usual few, Liverpool and Man United, with alot of Leeds and Aston Villa fans around the country, and really nearly every club in the football league have supporters here.
English footie journalist I have chatted with some English footie journalist and they all agree by far, Man Utd is the team of Ireland. I have also heard that Utd has fielded over the yrs more Irishmen than any other club. By the way,I am part Irish and my wife is 1/2. Does Utd or any other club visit Ireland alot to recruit? Don't know how they do it across the pond? Which club do you like? Thanks, Patrick
My friend's dad is from Ireland and he says him and his whole family back in Ireland love Arsenal....i don't know if that applys to all the people of Ireland but he sure loves them
Arsenal aren't all too popular over here, haven't got that tradition Man United and Liverpool have, despite players like Liam Brady, Man Un ited and Liverpool have rarely if ever gone a while without fielding an Irishman, though Liverpool are doing it now. Also, there's a strong connection between Liverpool the city and the people of Ireland, most scoucers have a bit of Irish in them which gives us a strong bond to Liverpool. Man United would be the most liked club (And most hated by the people who don't support them, like everywhere) becaysew of their success and profile but also, as you said, the amount of Irish people they have had, same goes for Liverpool.
fair point, i stand to be corrected but their f.a. cup winning team of 1980 have 7 irish (incl. northern ireland) in their starting line-up
Arsenal not popular? Arseanl not popular Slash? Maybe it's just where i live but of all my soccer mates i would say Arsenal fans make up about 1/3. I have 1 mate who's a Utd fan and he's full of *************** appropriately enough.
Well I'm just speaking about where I'm from obviously, I only know one and his dad is an English Londoner anyway, but I would say the Man U or Liverpool support far out weights the Arsenal support as things stand.
