May 5th vs. San Jose was a midweek game during school year. The others I think were Friday's and IIRC were well-attended.

Also if you have to sell 4 it's sometimes tougher than just moving 2 tix.

As you can see, I'm jacked about the game tomorroe

it was yom kippur yesterday, eid al-adha and the solstice today.

you know what that means right??

    PS

it means didly squat. but if we win I'm claiming heliocentric/abrahamic divinity intervention!

In terms of unconsidered consequences, how about......in an attempt to make fans happy and buying they keep rolling with ageing but familiar players, team stinks, fans flee and don't buy. You're the one advocating "we're stuck" and then moaning about empty seats to watch a "stuck" team. The choices of coach, GM, and players were all a little weak. Sometimes you have to spend a little to make a little, take some risks. This was low risk (and low reward) and so will do roughly what it did last year, plus a little bit.

I have 3, which can be difficult as well given the odd number.

    Lovejoy 14 G / 2 GS
    Miranda 15 / 6
    Lopez 16 / 12
    Olabiyi (half) 4 / 1
    Torres 9 / 2
    Sarkodie 16 / 15
    Steinberger 3 / 0
    Hoffman 5 / 0
    Manotas 7 / 0
    Hunter 1 / 1
    Cochran 7 / 5
    Garrido 25 / 19
    Deric 27 / 27

This is plenty of first team younger player minutes.

The real problem is most of them stink. They can't keep their job, earn a job, displace an O-30 who is falling apart and couldn't make the playoffs of their own accord, and renew the team. It's like the Astros before this season.

Quality. Not quantity. The important thing with the Astros was the "keepers." Correa. etc. And spending some money for a change to get vets of quality. The idea of youth for youth's sake is oversold. A young player is not necessarily better than his older colleague. What we need are, simply, better players. That is easier said than done but is not accomplished by simply running out kids game after game. My experience this season is we run out the kids, they still lose, and we make a different set of excuses. No one seems to connect the same people couldn't beat minor league teams this winter. Someone lost those games. Hmmm. Maybe they just stink.

I mean, is the idea if we play Lopez oo times he eventually works hard both ways and gets it? That some of these people become impact players despite no hint yet of it?

Face it, it's a disappointing roster that got widely tried and didn't work. The only ones upsetting me right now are how we use Torres -- because of the investment -- and Olabiyi, because his speed and decent technicality seems to give a ponderously slow team a spark. I agree that we should be shifting towards evaluating who should stick around next season, but not because people didn't get their chances already. How many do they get? Do they get another year? I say bring in a new crop and run them out of town if they haven't performed. THIS obviously is not working.

I would not run out all kids. I would leave in select older players who we intend to retain, to see what the chemistry is like and test run those lineups. I would leave out people who perhaps have no future here. I don't see the point in Garrido or Lopez or Miranda, who should be cashiered, we'd be better off recalling minor league loan players or giving new people a chance. Real lineup and talent evaluation as opposed to playing kids to play kids.

I'll deal with Juves post later (I don't think Sarkodie in year 5 is a player we are still "discovering" and counting as playing youth - he's played less this year than last).

But we got 206A VIP Club seats posted on StubHub at $18.00 or $46 for a pair after fees.

Kofi is barely older than Cochran, Hunter, Steinberger, Lovejoy, and Lopez (22 or 23), same age as Garrido (24), younger than Hoffman, Bruin, and Deric. 3 years older than Miranda, 4 older than Manotas.

You said we were playing "guys on their last MLS legs." In certain cases, true. But there is a pretty long list of, "not true." I pointed them out. We have in fact spent "a year of developing players." They did not rot as under the prior regime. They instead got what I termed "first team younger player minutes." Are you suggesting Sarkodie is not 24???? So since my post -- in its own terms -- is a fair reply to your post -- by its own terms.....any response you have will be the usual movement of goalposts. I guess by now you have them on wheels to speed the process. Good for you.

Since I have, as usual, shown how your arguments are broad brushes that don't reflect the facts (as when I detailed the roster shifts of this year don't reflect a mass of "Dom Legacies"), you are going to split hairs about individuals on the list. I do the hard work, you nit pick. Unless you can do a TON OF HAIR SPLITTING, my point remains valid. A lot of kids got a lot of minutes and I expect that to continue as we are eliminated, excuses disappear, and evaluation is the only rational thing to be doing.

Also worth noting that, in the process of checking this list, you see a lot of people who aren't exactly 18, where the idea of "waiting" makes less sense. If a guy is 22-25, has a few years under his belt, and hasn't turned the corner....cash chips. There is a fresh set of those types every year in the draft and on the market. No sense getting sentimental about marginal performers. I mean, when is Lopez going to decide to have work ethic and defense? 25? 28? It's not a reserve squad, it's a first team. Let someone else take the risk.

As I've said a jillion times, our big problem is the good players are the older ones, some late 20s, some O-30. We do not have a Castillo that is ready made star material and just a kid. Our only 24 under 24 rots half the time and is there arguably as a nod to prior performance. I found our general failure to populate the list telling, and of concern in a rebuilding situation. In our situation you really want to be identifying and planting future stars, around which the new unit is built, not having to figure out how long to hold on to the old core without the team embarrassing itself. The reason: we played a lot of kids and few are impact players.

    Hi All

Galaxy fan here who just moved to Houston. I'm going to my first game tonight and someone gave me 'West Club' passes with my tickets. Does anyone know what these are and what they include? I'm trying to decide if I go to a bar before I get to the stadium.

    Thanks in advance

Wanna understand how we end up where we are? Bunch of other teams have gotten double digit first team games from their first rounder. We're one of the teams with a few games and a minor league loan. Ditto our other draft picks. Most of them are on loan or went on loan. One is gone. Well, that's just one tool, Juve. They don't all work out. But none have.

OK, how many HGP turn out? The one. Every other one flushes or doesn't even sign. But that's just two tools. But just acknowledge we didn't get a few Zardes like certain teams do.

OK, who did we get in the free agent draft? Sturgis. How'd that go. Three tools.

OK, who's in on loan? Garrido. Lopez. Miranda. Any studs there? Shoot. What's going on here.

OK, who'd we sign? There are some worth a hoot, but the big signing is yet to take off. The back we signed didn't fix the problem.

[Pattern developing. Not one a limited payroll team can afford. The team is getting older and the kids and vets coming in are rubbish. What is this GM being paid for?]

It's not the amount of time spent playing kids. It's GIGO.

HOUSTON DYNAMO – OUT: Jermaine Taylor – Right quad tear; QUESTIONABLE: Alex – Right hamstring strain; PROBABLE: DaMarcus Beasley – Left calf strain; Kofi Sarkodie – Right knee bone bruise; SUSPENDED: Luis Garrido (yellow card accumulation)

Good to see DMB listed as probable.

Boniek has a place as a right back if nothing else. He's done well there so far and think it might be a good transition for him as he gets older.

From where I was sitting, it looked Dwyer could have been call for a couple of fouls on OBG before his dramatic flop.

I've never wished ill on anyone but someone needs to drop that piece of shit!
