Wow. Are we really calling up Castillo and Ayovi?! Does Quinteros not watch Mexican soccer?! Because Dorados freaking SUCK. Castillo is horrible and Ayovi is even worse. I don't think they have won a game lol. They are the main culprits why that team is terrible if anyone watches Dorados games. They are good for second division soccer in Mexico but first division?!????! Hell nah... and still get called up for the NT?!?!? LMAO. Wow. There are younger players that should be called up and given the opportunity... these two are about or should retire from soccer now. Gees... Ecuador sinks lower and lower as the time goes by.

Should have called up Ramirez instead of Ayovi. We have seen what Ayovi brings to the table. Use these friendlies to find replacements for them.

By the way, Montero's great form really makes me happy. If everyone will be on high level, I think we can suprise Argentina, and hopefully get a draw

Plata should have been called up, he is better than Angulo and plays in a better league and what about Cristian Ramirez ?

Seriously. Too many head scratching decisions regarding this call up. It seems like a waste of time. When we can use it to call up better players that are actually doing something productive. Insane to leave Caicedo out when he is the only forward we have that actually scores in a competitive league. I also forgot about Plata. He also should have been called up. Guerron hasn't played much but when he does he makes a difference. Seriously. What a disappointing news.

Banguera should not be on this list Piedra, Bone or any other goalkeeper are doing much better than him. Castillo really i mean su tiempo ya se pasa. It was time for Cevallos Jr., or Jefferson Orejula let the youngins prove that hard work pays off. Daniel Angulo over Felipao is interesting, a head-scratcher but i let it go. Ayovi will keep seeing the NT in this 4 year cycle regardless of how he plays. Regardless i dont see how Joao Plata didnt get called up. Another one is Bagui i dont have a problem with him necessarily but hes not helping the LB situation, Ayovi isnt as good as he used to be, Bagui will come in as a sub and hold down the fort but we need a permanent replacement hence Leonel Ramirez, i guess you could say you can stick Pinieda there but i still believe in Ramirez.

Regardless this is a call-up to a friendly against Honduras and..... oh yeah we dont have another opponent. Whats up with that does Quinteros think he'll have a gelled team for qualifiers by having only one friendly before it. I mean it wouldnt kill to have another one even if its with a bad team.

    4-4-2 vs Honduras
Domiguez; Paredes, Mina, Erazo, Ayovi/Pinieda; Valencia, Noboa, Gruezo, Montero; Bolanos, Martinez

    4-2-3-1 vs Honduras
Dominguez; Paredes, Achiler, Erazo, Ayovi/Pinieda; Noboa, Gruezo, Valencia, Martinez, Montero; Bolanos

Joao Rojas will be replacing Jefferson Montero. Montero will still be travelling with the team

Joao Rojas club could not respond in time so Juan Rojas (Dep. Quito) will be called up instead. Pedro Quinonez was injured so Pedro Larrea will take his place. Why does he not call up Plata and Cevallos instead .

I heard that they might get to play a second game with Honduras but instead of a full 90 minutes it'll be 60. This is just piss poor planning from the FEF. Quinteros must have realized what we realized and its that we need more time to prepare for qualifiers.

Anyone see the whole game? How was it? I saw bits and pieces and it was alright. Big difference though with Valencia back. That's about all I noticed from what I saw... Oh yeah and the stadium extremely empty.

Bolanos goal was sick. Such a great player he is. I'm disappointed we didn't win by a larger difference. Honduras was trying out players not their full squad something we should have done a while back. I don't have a good feeling about this we need several points in the beginning because every other team has been improving. Peru held its own with Colombia.

I saw the whole game and it wasn't that great considering the competition. The 1st score was an own goal by Honduras. The 2nd score was really nice, but then it was pretty much over. There were a lot of un precise passes and towards the end, a lot of players tried to do it all themselves. I hope the team was just practicing, but I don't have a great feeling about this eliminatoria.

I saw most of the game. It was basically our 11 players versus their keeper. I also think we were very unlucky to not score more, their goalkeeper was excellent and also lucky. We even hit the post.

Overall I was pretty happy with the performance. We will be even more dangerous with Montero on the left, although it would be interesting to see Arroyo and him on the field at the same time. Fidel and Miller looked dangerous, Fidel was very unlucky not to score and Miller will be in Europe by next summer at the latest because he is finally showing his potential. Caicedo is also having a good moment with Espanyol and seems happy, I believe he will fight for Fidel's spot. I also think Yoya needs to be in consideration. Basically in the attacking lines we look OK, and then when Enner gets back, we'll be even stronger.

The other positive note was our subs, Ibarra and Cazares were extremely lively and dangerous, and Gruezo got some minutes which will be important because by the end of this cycle Castillo should not be around.

I think we are looking decent for the qualifiers. As always we don't do good in Copa America because we don't have a lot of fans in the stadium (we're a small country) plus I always feel our players are best in the pressure of the eliminatorias when the pressure is at the maximum. Playing in Quito with our fans and the (psychological and physical) advantage of the altitude will also bring some confidence.

I missed the game...started a new job a few months ago that is still kicking my azz. In any case, I'm glad we won, but in all honesty, the competition vs. Honduras is not like the qualifiers. If we wanted an ego boost, I think we got one, but this shouldn't necessarily even be considered a "prep" match. I'm just concerned with our defense...can it be set for a matchup vs. Argentina? Scary thought..

Missed the game but i saw the stats 15 shots on target and 15 off target something like that give or take. From what i heard Honduras was lucky to not have lost by 5.

Taking a look at our 2 qualifying games:

Argentina: absolutely dominated and destroyed Bolivia and against Mexico they were all over the place the defense was horrible, the midfield lost balls, and the forwards had trouble scoring, after some tatical subs they scored 2 in the last 10 to draw and couldve won as well. Even when having an abysmal night they still managed to turn a result. We'll lose this game but put up a decent fight. Unless Quinteros has been holding back on us ;) .

Bolivia: They got man handled by Argentina 7-0. We should beat them in Quito por goleada

All in all 3 points in 2 games with +2 goal difference.

Are we able to play as fast as Mexico did against Argentina? I believe they also had 5 defenders. Messi wasn't really into the game until the last 5 minutes.

After losing to Bolivia in the Copa America, I struggle to find that any game is really "winnable" anymore. I've gotten so skeptical, but I think it's rooted in our inconsistency. We haven't found a system that works yet. It's been a while, and that's a problem. Vizuete had us on track, the entire system changed, and now we're re-starting and the results look less than promising.

I think Bolivia might have to skip some games in the eliminiatorias, which might give us three automatic points. Good, but we need high-pressure game experience because we buckled in Chile. Against Argentina, we need Montero and Valencia to just own their territory. Everyone else can fall in line. Our defense needs some major upgrading though....Erazo gets bow legged and opens up like David Luiz to the nutmegs....scary thought. The last time Achilier faced Argentina in BA...things got ugly.

We have 3 weeks until qualifying starts and I am concerned about our RB position. JC Paredes has not even been on the bench this season at Watford. AV has not been starting but at least he's getting minutes, plus he's the leader of our NT right now.

In my view Quinteros needs to look at making AV our permanent right back and Ibarra, Martinez or whoever is in form on the right wing.
