And don't forget it is not just the ticket prices either. We get free parking for Revs game and the parking last night was $40. I have been to almost every US game ever played at Foxboro and I could not justify going last night. They just seemed to want to rape the fans.
On ticketmaster. They were the price of 3rd deck tickets. Which due to terrible sales of lower bowl seats they ended up, upgrading those seats to lower bowl. Also the 200 section tickets rows 16-26 were 75(84 after fees). Thats were I sat 204 row 26. http://www.ussoccer.com/tickets/150908-us-men-vs-brazil
This was a friendly...yes? Any chance the price was adjusted because of an exorbitant appearance fee for the Brazilian team? I have no idea...just speculating.
Revs parking is free. $40 is for Concerts, big soccer games and Pats games. Red Sox/Bruins/Celtics parking can be between $25 and up depending on games(Red Sox lots have price structure)
It is higher for Patriot games. Concerts and non MLS soccer games are typically around $40 at Gillette.
$40 dollars just to park your hunk of metal seems like highway robbery. Or I suppose parking lot robbery.
Whatever the number is for VANCOUVER - it looked like less on TV. Can't remember seeing BC Place with this many seats unoccupied. Maybe it'll fill up since it's a weeknight, but 10' in has some huge swaths of empty seats - especially behind the north side goal.
Just got back from the game. By far the most empty seats I've seen at BC Place since Whitecaps moved there.
I cannot fathom the compulsion of some people to post results in this thread. What is the purpose of that? Especially under 24 hours. I just don't get it. I know I'm probably in the minority here, but what value did Tom's post add? You see a couple of these every week now. It didn't used to be like this.
Because it's tangentially related to the thread topic (i.e. how do poor home results affect attendance?). I personally can't fathom why someone would go into into an MLS-related forum if they've recorded the game and not watched it yet.
That's simple. In this thread, they may want to see how attendance is going. I mean, it's not like this is the PBP thread.
No, what would be simple is not heading to the MLS section of Big Soccer before you've watched the games. Whatever. I haven't been guilty of this transgression, but I'm not going to complain about it either.
Edwardgr, I'd be interested to know what the average for the second half of the season is to date, compared to the Serie A average of 22,213 last season.
Even more simple would be a strictly moderated thread composed only of team names with attendance numbers next to them (perhaps some explanations and citations). Then all of the bickering over what it looked like and discussions about what impacted attendance could get its own thread.
I've kinda been following this discussion. Actually, I was guilty of this a few weeks ago. I made a comment something like "...big crowds and home teams undefeated....". It never really occurred to me that I was revealing results (obviously, I was; just at the time I didn't think of it that way). I suspect a lot of posters don't really see it like that. I'll try to be more careful, as I'm sure most other posters guilty of this will. But it is difficult to resist the comment, "(insert team here) lays egg in front of largest crowd of the season."
I hate how ESPN, Fox and NBC all show the score to the game on the screen...it's like c'mon, I was going to watch this game later. I was just tuning in to see what the crowd looks like so on the attendance thread I can complain about how much it looked like on TV.
You can easily find data showing how game-to-game results affect attendance (SPOILER: very little), but it's more difficult to find somewhere that shows you attendance numbers, with some discussion as to why they might be what they are (again- how the team performed last home game rarely has anything to do with it) so that you can decide which games to watch for the week based on perceived atmosphere (bigger crowd = more excitement or something like that). Stupid? Maybe- but it's been that way in this thread for a very long time and if it is going to change, then there should at least be an (R) in thread title so that people know to go elsewhere for the info they seek. I don't even care too much, since I'm old enough that I'll forget the score if and when I actually do bother to watch it, but it's annoying to see people be so flip about it and then get defensive when they're called on it. It's not like people are arbitrarily making this up, the thread had been spoiler free for a while and plenty of people were fine with it like that.
We should actually be trying to not spoil the outcome of a match. As last games performance rarely has an impact on the next games attendance it should be easy to discuss without referring to the results, and the results of the current game obviously in no way affect the attendance of that game itself.
The Galaxy's sellout streak seems to be coming to an end. PLENTY of empty seats available, though the Galaxy has already sent out a heavy traffic warning for the game.
