I'll take a shot if Taylor Twellman doesn't mention Landon Donovan's tweet within five minutes of the start of teh second half.
Problem is we don't have anyone else who can bring a similar physicality in the midfield. That's a big hole when we're talking about a guy easily past his prime YET still not replaceable.
I just think that if you watch ESPN and listen to Twellman too long you'll feel like the same whiny bitch that he is. I'm not saying Twellman is a bad color guy with his commentary. He just comes off as someone who is panicking, bitching, gushing, or ass kissing the player(s) and tactics.
My buddy, Tyler, is 5 rows behind our bench. Says when Bedoya was subbed off, he yelled something back at Klinnsman while he walked to the bench. He said no one around him could make out what he yelled, either, but that his facial expression was "frustration" and "anger". Interesting?
If he checks into a 5 man midfield, Brazil will have the US compressed in their own third the entire match.
We don't deserve to be on the same pitch. Douglas Costa & Willian are just another world apart from our guys. Hopefully they sub in some scrubs in the second half & we get a 2-1 win
We need to see if he can give his boy Rick a call, hes the best player on his team. We could use him.
Anyone watching this on Unimas? 'Bout sick of watching them do the picture-in-picture cutaways to the Mexico pre-game festivities.
I said when they were walking out that Bedoya looked like he wanted to be anywhere else. Probably didn't appreciate being put in a position to fail, then embarrassed by the coach. Horrible man management by Jurgen.
Nguyen is not the answer at this level, sorry. Issue largely is all 10 of Brasil' field players have a far superior touch to ours. On top of that, they're better athletes too. Outside Dre we don't have any true pace out there, especially when the ball is at our guys' feet. Benny might help but that's if we had more skilled players around him, otherwise he's just out there with no options to pass to either, then gets eaten up by the pressure. But again, it's not just skill, it's a lack of pace too.
he comes off like a freaking idiot who has had too many concussions and shouldn't be anywhere near a mic. but that's usually who espn likes to trot out. there isn't 1 person outside of Darke worth a damn in the ESPN set up
Not surprising, we cant expect to match up against Brazil on most nights, look at the talent gap, but they've done ok to keep them to one goal and we had 2 (count em 2) half chances.
Right now - Jermaine Jenas > Jermaine Jones He was far from the only player change since the GC, not that surging at the end against Peru in a friendly could be indicative of a whole lot. This is Brazil, so getting out-played to some degree is expected, but this still seems a mediocre at best performance, and Jones is a big part of that. One of several culprits on the goal, by showing himself to Yedlin, then aimlessly running into a defender. He turned the ball over on the edge of the box another time. He turned the ball over several more times, and defensively he's getting caught out of a position and lunging. How about subbing him too? Williams-Bradley-Mix sounds better. Give more balance and clearer roles of defense and attack. And give some more aid to the attack. Klinsmann thinks defense almost exclusive about the first 80 minutes against top 10 sides.
"Heineken Light, the best light beer you've ever tasted, or your money back." Ad campaign rapidly making me hate NPH.
It is amazing how when Brazil doesn't start Neymar they can pull someone off the bench that could honestly start for almost any nation in the world.
"We should have started more of our Germans. Might have triggered PTSD with some of the Brazilian side." Stolen from Reddit but it was so funny I had to post.
What progress? I actually see regression. We used to be a tough match-up for Brazil. We used to always give them at least some trouble. And this, against *better* Brazilian teams. Today we see this apathetic, toothless team that can't put together any creativity and can't threaten Brazil at all, not even in counters. Supposedly the Klinsmann era was expected to get us to be more internationally competitive. We end up with the worst Gold Cup performance in a while, and going backwards when facing quality competition like Brazil. Likely, we'll lose to Mexico in October and won't make the Confeds Cup. I mean, what exactly have we gained with this Klinsmann experiment? I say, fire Klinsmann.
