Just heard that England's transfer window lasts a day longer than most of Europe due to the bank holiday on the 31st of August. I would almost feel happy getting De Gea on our last day letting them have no other option than Romero, because who would sell their goalkeeper without being able to buy another?

Sell him and get us a good striker. As of right now Benz and Marcelo are the most important players on the team, cant afford an injury to either.

I don't think there is any plan to buy a striker, so I'm going to say, let's keep him. Also, I would like Valencia to burn to the ground, so...

You know, the last time we had a smart transfer season where we addressed all of our squad issues and upgraded positions seems so long ago, I cant even remember one in recent years. It seems we keep ignoring glaring issues (ST), spend on covered positions (RB), then create new issues (LB).

Agreed. Puff puff pass on selling to Valencia, I do think selling Cheryshev and getting us a striker is a very logical move though.

Logical, absolutely. I've suggested it many times here. Let's see if the club follows the same line of thinking.

Cheryshev might stay to be a backup LB.

Cheryshev will be 25 years old by the end of the year and has played the incredible amount of 3000 first league minutes in his career. Are people still expecting him to become a good player?

Could be a good direct option off the bench but when you are getting 15M offers I would sell. He is nothing special compared to the players we got in Castilla right now.

We should get Morata back and keep Cheryshev, especially with Coentrao gone.
Morata can't be certain of playing in Juve with their new forwards around, he could just as well come home to us and compete for a starting role here :)
(but I suspect Perez don't think these former cantera players are marketable enough..)

If we should ship anyone else, it should be Lucas Vasques who hasn't impressed at all.

Was just wondering about this - but someone else might correct me if I'm wrong - think it's been a long time since he's done that and was never really great at it to begin with.

The casillas payout is only wages we would have had to pay in any event. It shouldnt be included when discussing net transfer fees.

What a strange - at times great and at times inexplicable - summer.

Agreed; doubt they paid it up front anyways (not that transfer fees are necessarily paid up front, but still).

Maybe the numbers don't tell the whole story? This will be only his 3rd season playing first team football. The first season when he was loaned to Sevilla the injuries hindered him so bad that as late as February he was only fit to play 15 minutes in the league. It will be understandable for Emery to not consider him seriously in his plans.

The second season with Villarreal was good for him and he was a fixed a starter, and I think until his hamstring injuries in the 2nd half of the season he was the leading player in assists in the league, so yeah he can become good player

Does anyone else think it would be stupid to sell him to a rival ? It would be stupid to sell him full stop, but to a rival !! And to a team that has especially proven to be a thorn in our balls for the past few years.

Unfortunately, late transfer window surprises often end up being some combination of not that great and overly expensive. Hope I'm proven wrong, because we are very thin at the moment.

Why not go for Lacazette to backup Benzema?

Wolfsburg aren't as tough as I thought they are. Already selling De Bruyne so Rodriguez can be a real target for us if we pay them well. I'd love to have him on our team.

Soy Madridista reporting that we are interested in signing Alberto Moreno from Liverpool but it would depend of if we sell Cheryshev or not, If Cheryshev stays then he could be used as a backup left back. Moreno would cost around 15-18me, also another option is Alex Telles who would cost around 10me.

I wonder if the Huge Galactico is Lewandowski? Interestingly it was sportyou who reported the possible transfer coup.
