not to gripe, but the AP report, I think, mentions Clint beating two guys on the dribble after stealing the ball from a Schalke player. This report mentions only the "brilliant" pass Clint got to score. Hmm....

    learn to read man

Two minutes later the "Clint-Commander" won a ball in the midfield who passed it to Christiansen on the left. While Mathis took up a position in the box, Christiansen performed a brilliant pass to Mathis who converted secure into the left corner, sending the AWD Arena into delirium.

    in summary..

    1) he won the ball
    2) passed it off
    3) made a run
    4) was returned the ball
    5) golazo

anymore questions, fell free to ask..

yes the steal is mentioned, however you fail to mention my other points not mentioned in that report. this is nothing to make a federal case over. and one more thing, drop the didactic tone, my friend.

Neither report mentions a "golazo", just a tidy finish. A "golazo" is highlight reel goal. Stick with English.

yeah my point merely was that I was hoping for a little more meat from the report, in particular his "dribble past two defenders as mentioned by AP:

[Mathis] later stripped a Schalke player of the ball and beat two defenders off the dribble. He then passed off and popped up on the right side to volley in a cross for the game-winner.

I was just hoping to get a little more on what that dribbling sequence looked for. I admit it's a petty point, but ... what can I say?

    Thanks for the report, Wolverine.

Somehow I don't think trying to show up your coach is a very effective way of garnering more playing time. Mathis is a talented player, but he seems to be his own worst enemy...

    Especially with Lienen!
Lienen was not even starting Christiansen the top scorer of the league two years ago because he doesn't really like him.
Instead of seeing two talented players like him and Mathis on the pitch we had to bear seeing Dabrowski and Stendel play who in my eyes are average 2nd league player at best.

Sigh, let's just hope Lienen does the right thing Tuesday!

After the game was over and the players were celebrating with their fans Clint was talking to Lienen. Both seemed a bit excited but in the end they embraced which hopefully is a good sign.
After Lienen the manger Kaenzig also came on the pitch to talk to Clint and embrace him.

And I'm really thankful for Clint's goal because it gave me an excuse to jump into the arms of the cute guy who sat beside me, hehe-

He has my number now! :D

Clint has lots of enemies, many vying to be his worst. :)
Just seconding the notion that it was not golazo. He's had a couple with hannover last season, this was just a very professional, well taken goal. As for the dribble fest, I was watching and can't remember that. Maybe I should, but I can't. Sorry.

The Washington Post is reporting that after being subbed in in the 84th minute and scoring 90 seconds later Clint ran directly to the bench and tapped his "watch" in the coach's face.

    That is classic.

Now aren't we jumping to conclusions here? Isn't it completely possible he could have had a bet with the coach how fast he would score once he came in, and Clint was simply trying to see if he beat the over/under?

Good for Clint though, that coach as completely sucked the life out of the offense of Hannover and Clint since his arrival. Maybe he needed a little American "in your face!!" treatment.

Did the AP report mention the boos the reporter heard in the crowd and that Clint did nothing to stop them as well?

Kind of like extreme skiing -- I wouldn't do it, but it's fun to watch.

Well, as long as they "kissed and made up".... Of course, i'm referring to Clint and Lienen ;) ..... Clint has to know who has the power to take his minutes away (even more if he already comes off the bech)....Hopefully, as apparent from Lienen's comments, he does not take it as too disrespectful and starts giving Clint more of a chance.....

many players won't do it, but that tapping the watch stuff is pedestrian as long as the coach understands the player and the player understands the coach.

further, as pointed out above, they embraced after the game.
