SC starts, Mathis on the bench. Sousa and now-healthy Idrissou back in the starting lineup for 96.

    0-0 in the first half.

Mathis off the bench with the winner......(in my imagination).

Halftime, scoreless. Cherundolo with a couple of mentions in attack.

I've been trying to keep up with the action on television, but I keep getting diverted by the drying paint.

Mathis was making a backside run, right side of box, don't know who cut it in, but Mathis took the ball on the volley and slapped into the side netting, back post. just like they draw them up.
Oh, and I meant to say 1-0.
He came on after half, btw.

JAAAAAAAA!!!!! Mathis trifft! Unglaublich!

Good goal, volley from ten yards from Christiansen's setup.

Sounds like a nice finish. I've always thought that when in form, Clint is our best finisher -- he really does have the killer instinct, and finishes the shots he should finish. I know it's just one goal, but if Clint can recover his pre-WC '02 form, he would be a huge asset to the US men.

Way to go Clint. I hope this is the start of more good things for him both in Germany and for the US side. We could use some deadliness up front.

It's not a spectacular finish, but very professional, very cold, goal. They gave him space (a lot of space) and he made them pay.

    Shark - place your bets!

Clint. Are you getting ready to go on one of those little streaks of yours?

It's been a bit and we miss it so dearly.

When Cletus scores you must play him. BA and Lienen.

Nothing like a Clint on a roll!
