I couldn't find this thread! Thanks! I say next stop for Doyle is either USL's Sacramento or Reno but I doubt he would work with Yallop...
I thought about that but he is already there earning $200k for showing up to a few camp sessions. You would think he will have found one player by now as he has been there since 2005-2006. If a player was 10 -15 years old then, he would have been a prime professional player by now.....
Yeah, we might want to remind him. We can then look forward to today's promising young prospects striding triumphantly into Avaya sometime in the next decade. Patience!
He hasn't really utilized the Mustangs other than players who made the rounds through college and other teams. I'm not sure but I think both Chris Wondolowski and David Bingham came up through the Mustang academy. If they didn't, they are from the East Bay where Doyle lives.
If you look at the Mustangs website, they don't refer to any of their success stories. John Doyle's page is also odd. All his Earthquakes affiliation is ancient history. http://www.johndoylesoccercamps.com/about.html Since this thread is old, I am pretty sure I already mentioned the above, but if you're trying to keep your two lives separate, then call your business Pony Time or something, don't give it your name.
Mustang Soccer is easily one of the most successful youth soccer clubs in the country, has been for nearly 20yrs... http://www.mustangsoccer.com/Division_1/409805.html
You would think by now, they will have produced more professional players other than Bingham and the Wondo brothers....
I know Andrew Wiedman. He was a former Generation Adidas player from Cal. He is now with the Ottawa Fury FC in the NASL. In six years as a pro at age 25, he has 55 games to his name.
I liked him as a player and I'm glad (for his sake) he has had the same GM job for 8 years. It must be nice to have job security. It all come down to one reason which is they (Kaval, Wolff & Fisher) have never played the game nor do they know anything about it. They probably look up to him as some type of soccer expert.
Yeah, that's great - and the guy in charge of it shouldn't have a second job as OUR GM. How many other GMs in this league have a second job??
Not sure about GM's but MLS Commissioner Don Garber is the CEO of (SUM) Soccer United Marketing. I think he gets a salary for running the company. I doubt he would do it for free.
He still is moonlighting and gets two salaries for separate jobs plus whatever else on the side. I'm willing to bet he makes more from SUM than he does from MLS.
TS, do you know more or less, what it costs most parents (altogether) to enroll your kid into a top academy from the ages of say 10-18? I.E. Stanta Clara Sporting, De Anza Force and the Mustangs? Can't really find it online.... Johnny Kinnear is the Mustangs U9 - U11 Boys coach...is he related to Dom? http://www.mustangsoccer.com/contactus/index_E.html
About $2,000/year basic costs (uniforms, league fees, coach/referee salaries). That's without the travel, and a lot of these teams are away every weekend during the season, so hotels, planes, etc. The leagues will of course eat those costs for a player they really want. But your typical Silicon Valley status-seeking family can expect to pony up for the privilege of being able to boast "my kid plays club." Running a club league seems to be lucrative. In Palo Alto alone there are three leagues competing with each other, and all have been around for at least ten years. Used to be your kid needed to be a half-decent player to make it through tryouts, but no more! Some of our weakest AYSO players go to clubs -- and if that's how the parents want to spend their money and time, so be it.
$2,000/year???? Wow! If there are 1000 players (for example and I'm sure there are more) in the academy, that is $2 million. Can't believe the director wouldn't get at least a chunk of that. No wonder everyone wants to start these academies. I don't blame them for wanting to either. If I were John Doyle I would get together with the Wondo Brothers and start an academy of their own. If I were Doyle, I'd never give that up.... http://mustangsoccer.com/johndoylesoccer/index_E.html
