You've just posted the exact same message in the San Diego thread. That suggests two possibilities. The first is that you have connections to both cities, so you would know the common factors preventing teams being launched in both cities (and every other city in North America, or anywhere else for that matter). To refresh you memory, they are an owner/owners group with deep pockets: $$ for USL, $$$ for NASL, $$$$$ for MLS and fcuking shedloads for BL1 (Red Bull Leipzig's owner can fill you in) said owners know what they're doing and give a rat's ass a good stadium deal with you as the primary or sole tenant (tickets, parking and concessions $$ go to you) a TV deal to actually make profits on your investment a population that a) loves the game and b) you have some reason to believe will buy season tickets and c) go to the damned games instead of watching EPL or LaLiga on TV All of the above are in that order of importance. The other alternative is that you're a newbie . . . which you are (so welcome to BigSoccer). I feel better now. Edit: Taking my snark hat off, these are the factors that posters far more knowledgeable than I ever will be have identified since this website started back in the primordial soup days of US soccer and the intertube thingy. It really is that straightforward. I didn't realise that you'd just joined today. You're very welcome on board, and bring some friends. Just bear in mind that this kind of issue tends to attract a lot of very knowledgeable posters who've had their hearts broken by their own or others' naivete over the last 3-4 decades; they tend to be respond rather harshly to posts like yours. If my post is harsh, my apologies, but I'm too damned tired (teaching ESL summer school does that to you) and lazy to rewrite it from the start.
6. Sponsor deals are a good thing too. Oh..and a passionate supporter group. Got to have one of those Regarding the 'edit' part, kudos to you for showing restraint with potential snarkyness (I like making up my own words). That's more than the vast majority here would have done, knowledgeable or otherwise. Including me.
I'd argue those are part of/byproducts of 1,2 and 4, but they are very important so it's a fair point that they should be a separate category: reasonable minds differing and all that. That's under no. 5 (OK, OK, it's supposed to be ). The sad truth is that a Supporter's Group is the byproduct of nos. 1-3, of which 1 & 2 are the most important. If you doubt me, compare the trajectories of the Fire and the Rapids with the Sporks over the last 5-10 years; fans will drift away if the owners are jerks or just don't care. Of course, a good supporters group is a massive accelerant to everything under 1-4 (esp. 4; TV is fascinated by the passion a top SG like the Timbers bring to the event), and are a real asset in getting potential fans to get out and come to the games. Word-of-mouth marketing is cheap to produce and it's more valuable than anything a Sales & Marketing or PR campaign can generate, because it's real and not paid for. The give me a rep you tight git Infantile trolling aside, he's a newbie and this was his second post, ever. He needs a little time to find out what kind of a bear pit he's wandered into.
One certainly could argue the first part of that sentence, but seeing as 1 and 2 have a rather broad meaning, I decided to list it separately. The supporter group thing was tossed in mainly for a chuckle, but it certainly doesn't hurt. Okay, done. Sheesh! I'd never been called a tight git before, I actually had to google it to find out what it meant. I'll retaliate later . I noticed Kenn responded to his San Diego thread post, that should give him a preview of things to come .
Looking forward to it! Bring your A game. I dropped it in because I know how much you guys across the pond enjoy Britishisms. Cheers
The NASL should add teams in these cities: San Diego San Francisco Fort Worth Detroit El Paso Memphis Baltimore Las Vegas Milwaukee Albuquerque Tucson Fresno
Why? Edit No. 1: Why are you here? Edit No.2: I just noticed that you're a Cosmos fan. That explains everything . . .

Its starting to look like the NASL is following the old USL in terms of expansion teams. If you have the expansion fee you get the team irregardless of place. Maybe they're just trying to cash in as much as they can due to the whole Traffic debacle.
Yeah because expansion teams in San Antonio, New York, Indy, Ottawa and Jacksonville have been a total disaster!
Grand Rapids...overall average of 4,151!!! http://www.mlive.com/sports/grand-r..._fc_alr_big_plans.html#incart_related_stories Roberts' optimism that the area can support a professional team at some point. This year the club's initial support came from 580 team memberships at $100 each. "We do have five- and 10-year goals where we, hopefully, can bring in a full-size professional team to Grand Rapids – whether that's us or part of another investment group," Roberts said. "I think part of the goal this year was just to prove that this city could sustain a team like that. So moving up to USL (United Soccer League, a Division III professional league) or maybe the NASL (North American Soccer League, a Division II league) would be an option down the road."
you forgot to mention Oklahoma, and Virginia and lets not forget that Atlanta is still owned by the league and Carolina is owned by an organization that's banned to due business with the NASL. This is not the time to expand into cities that have little hope of succeeding. Hartford may due well but I KNOW that PR and Miami are going to be disastrous, for christ sakes the strikers HAD to move from Miami because no one used to go to the games now you throw in an expansion team in a failed territory that will cannibalize the strikers fanbase and then those two teams will have to compete with an MLS team that has its own stadium! Yeah its a freaking license to print money this Miami FC team. PR is in the same vein except you have an owner who has publicly stated that no one wanted to come in with him on the team and the maybe someone will down the line. I'm curious to see how long Carmelo will take the loss of money before he decides to quit. Oh an by the way both teams need to be ready by NEXT season, yeah plenty of time.
Wait, what? How has this not made headlines anywhere? This was in a USASA league that the team formed after the NPSL turned them down. Bet they're regretting that decision, missed out on some awesome rivalry games with Detroit
Well Carmelo has stated that his first priority is to get the front office right which according to a article in the local news seems to be was his working towards with the help of the league. I don't see any possible talk about players until mid October. With front staff announcements around late August or September
Puerto Rico isn't joining until Fall 2016 so they have a little more time than Miami FC to get things together.
