Well saying that they stop being in top 5 clubs just because Pep leaves doesn't actually make sense. So explain it.
If we fire our coach, and continue to rely on our aging core players instead of transitioning to a new generation, we will end up falling out of the top five very quickly.
The only thing that matters is replacing the ageing core. If we keep them no coach not even the current one can keep us top 5
Who says we are relying so heavily on them? We basically have Lahm, Schweini until the sale, and Ribery that could start (Robben is more than good enough). Only two of them would have started even if Schweini stayed this season, so this is presumptuous at best. Letting a 31 year old stay until he's 32 here when we have 5 other players that can play his position is not exactly a recall to Milan.
But his presence on the squad is preventing either the purchase of a new CM, or the promotion of one of our yourh products. Schweini wasn't going to stay here to be a rotation player or back-up.
I agree, keeping Schweinsteiger until the end of his contract would have been the preferable solution and Pep said as much in the press conference a couple of days ago. However, I strongly doubt Schweinsteiger would have been happy to see out the end of his contract with this Manchester United offer on the table without getting a new fat contract at Bayern. Schweini is not Mehmet Scholl who just signed whatever Uli Hoeneß wrote into his contract. The way I see it was either extending with him or letting him leave for Manchester.

Bayern's enjoyed being in the top 2-3 for the past 5 years and it would be folly to think the 8 other elite European clubs are going to be stagnant and not replace Bayern's vaunted position. ie Juventus, their campaign this past season reminds me a lot of Bayern circa 09. A re-emerging club making all the right transfer decisions and with proper squad management. Barca has been the best club in the past decade and they've changed managers and their core of CL winning players several times. Sure they have Messi and they still adhere to possession but they've been forced to evolve several times.
Exactly. We've been running with the same core midfield and attacking players for the past 6 years. Most of them are over 30 now, and changes need to be made over the next several summers.
I'm not convinced by juventus either... They could be a random 4th like we see every season, aside from real barca bayern. Right now I'm not even convinced that bayern will even be in the final four..
I really doubt Juventus is a one season wonder. They've got a solid core of Italians who will soon reach their prime, they're incorporating young, talented players in Sturaro and Morata. They bought Dybala and Coleman, two highly rated youngsters. If Pogba stays, he can become their version of Ribery and become the centerpiece with which the club builds around. Not to mention, they've got their league on lock. Juventus isn't going away any time soon.
ManU and Chelsea will be in the hunt over the next couple of seasons as well. Competition in Europe is heating up.
I believe the CL has gotten exponentially harder since at least 2012.. After that point many oil teams emerged along side growing teams like bvb and atl Madrid to fill up the R16 spots. Add the football institutions and we have ourselves the most competitive cl I have ever seen... No more do top teams walk into the cl anymore. I think this is a golden age of cl football, and I dare say surpassing the WC and other NT tournaments
Not too many Italians, my bad, but still, solid core of young-ish players who are reaching their primes.
I'll always rate the WC above some club or some South American cup, even if San Marino were to win it.
the quality of football is definitely better at the latter stages of the ucl level, but the world cup is the world cup. Can't compete with the enormity of it.
