Simic wa really bad last season, and I don`t think she is the answer. We will have to wait one year, since Neid won`t change anything on her good bye tour.
Right, Julia is clearly good enough for their NT but too many in European football in general (coaches, fans, players etc...) don't like players with temper...see what I wrote about Bompastor in France....so her omission doesn't surprise me at all even though she is everything Germany need while Kessler is injured....a creative playmaker.
Don't think it was mean't to be sexist. Some people are too sensitive. http://www.itv.com/news/2015-07-06/...et-as-lionesses-return-from-womens-world-cup/ FA in hot water over 'sexist' tweet as Lionesses return from Women's World Cup One user Miranda Sawyer tweeted: "@England way to put them back in the kitchen."
The outcry was to be expected. I think this was unfortunate choice of words and not a display of deeper-lying sexism.
Men surely can at least partly feel for what it is after they had to learn "3rd places are for men only". Esp. given recent results.
How is it sexist when the men literally do the same thing with fielding B teams in 3rd place games? Or are you just looking for something else to piss and moan about?
you're confusing literal w/ analogy. the tweet is sexist, and there are dictionaries out there if you need help w/ the definition.
I ********ed up. I'm on mobile and I thought we were still on the thread discussing Germany giving it their all in the 3rd place game and the argument being that that was being sexist. Don't mind me
My experience in over 30 years of coaching (different sport) is that a third place game or consolation side of a draw is more important for someone who has not been there before. It may sound strange to others but before such a game I usually spoke with the other coach and we agreed that we were going to play everyone. Soccer has its three sub restriction making that more difficult. Perhaps in third place games the number of subs should be upped. Bottom line though was never complain if you lost or overly gloat if you won.
Nah. The tweet came when the players met their families. That's where the 'partners, daughters,' etc came from. It was something that was taken out of context by overly sensitive people who try to turn everything into some type of sex war.
At the beginning of last season she looked really quite good, like mvp good! She was the best player in Turbine's upset of Frankfurt But then something must of happened between her and Shroeder(as he started benching her), or maybe it got known that Wolfsburg offered her a better stronger salary, and of course with the switch over to the way overstuffed Wolfies, she became mainly s sub. That was my problem with the Bundesliga last year, the big 3 buying too talent away domestic from the bottom 9, and then on the other front, the big 3 buying some of the best talent in the world as well(Vero, Fishlock, Hansen, ect). It made the bottom ((and I got to include Potsdam now) so much less competitive(than previously). This was the sort of mentality thought to be more in the French League. I think this is going in the wrong direction, because a team like Olympique Lyon(who at one time seemed to have the entire French NT on it) has nobody else to compete in their own league(except for PSG) they seem to become very complacent. I'm afraid it's quality is going to suffer as well for the big 3 in the BUND. What kinda would be nice if those three teams could once challenge the USWNT to a game, it definitely would be something to look forward too, and at least you would have more defensive minded coaches like Kellermann, Bell & Worle trying to pick the brains of Ellis, instead of Neid, who worst problem is that she always wants to gamble with her fb's way up front and out of position when the counter attacks come
Are you being facetious, making this up, or being serious. Sad to say, there have been so many dishonest posts on BS as the World Cup progressed that I have no idea what the nature of your post is. And, sad to say, although the primary blame for this goes to posters, the secondary blame goes to the moderators.
Which tweet are you referring to? The one by Miranda Sawyer or the FA tweet? You might be talking about two different twitter posts. The back to the kitchen tweet by Sawyer was sarcasm.
You need to read the article from the link I posted. FA's Content Editor James Callow later apologised for causing any offence in a series of messages from his personal Twitter account. 618047141450252288 is not a valid tweet id
Yawn... When you've coached the 3rd place medal game at the World Cup, give us a jingle. I've coached for 30 years too, and I've yet to play a game with a 3rd place medal my players did not give it all to win. Even in crappy little 8 team tournaments. No one wants to go home empty handed. Ever. Especially when it might be the only World Cup medal in your entire career. That's just so silly as to be absurd. Anyone who actually watched the game knows this is stupid. Germany brought 3 keepers. And bloodied not a one besides Deener. Popp has to wear a bubble boy helmet, but she is the ET sub, not one of the other field players who barely figured. Ridiculous to even suggest they "didn't try" or whatever crap the tail-between-their-legs german apologists are trying to trot out. This german team played poorly and despite their best efforts could not beat England . End stop.
Apart from the mere fact that Germany genuinely didnt care: The newest info is that Popp, Marozsan, Lotzen, Laudehr and Peter all picked up injuries(turf?) during the tourney and were still forced by Neid to play games. In the case of Popp and Peter this means they will be out for weeks.
Why didn't the coach use Aluko in the semi? She was key reason that the team was able to turn the situation against Germany and created so many counter chances.
I've coached for 25 years as well, as well as watched every third place game in the WCs and back when the NCAAs had them. I have certainly seen teams that do not care to be there -- Hristo Stoichkov's Bulgaria in 1994 springs to mind -- but I can tell you that there is almost always a team that comes into the 3rd place game pissed. They want another shot at winning their last game. Anybody who saw Arkansas's 1978 victory over Notre Dame in the 3rd place game witnessed a team that wanted that one last chance to go out a winner. I'm all for keeping the 3rd place game. We as fans are better off for it. That Arkansas v Notre Dame game was one of the best spectacles I've ever seen.
My point was that in games like these, different teams are going to take different approaches depending on their situation and history. Does not mean they do not care or that the players in the game do not play hard. Whatever approach a team takes, just do not you use it as an excuse for losing. I have been at national championships where the third place game was completely dropped. Different sports have different approaches and even those come and go. I am all for playing the third place game if logistically (ie recovery time between games) it allows for a competitive contest. Nuff said.
I must say that Bardsley had a better performance than any of the English male keeper's performance in men's World Cup these years.
