Nope, turns out I don't know! So since I didn't know, and since I'm too groggy to figure it out, I deleted the question. Sorry, Rg, entrapment was not my intent.
Who won the World Cup without conceding a goal in the year of the Seven Stones ??? Eternal wisdom was giveth and the world shall bow down to the Knowledge Keeper of Sasic from the Land of Annike Krahnelios. Peasants don`t concern the Blue Eyed Queen of the Ice! Let the storm rage on, as the cold never bothered me anyway! And from my flesh and bones, a new Queen shall arise.
Right, let's try that again. + = the following hypothesis about Silvia Neid's erect zipper pull: "I'm got more cash than the country of Greece and better job security too. Sexy and I know it." Alternate hypothesis: it's cold outside.
Ugh... Again, I'm pretty sure I won't be the only person barely watching the women's Olympic tournament, so the least the DFB could do, is veto any decision where Neid played a role in shaping the future of the senior team, and use this unique waste of time heading to the next tournament, to get things back on track again. Plus even though Neid might take all the blame here, I'm also thinking her coaches are just as suspect as she is right now too; as they didn't appear to have any ability making their stubborn head coach, change her ways over the past 2 years either. I mean having that backroom inner circle around Jones, could only be an even more spectacular a failure, than anything we saw from Germany's progressively worse ending to this years WC.
Does anyone know why Maren Meinert is not up for the coach position of the NT? She was such a great technical and strategically creative player.
They could even have gone for Bettina Wiegmann - the low-key option, admittedly, but I'd have been a happier bunny to see someone with coaching experience at various levels have a go. Not that she'd have been likely to take the gig, mind you - but it'd be good to know that she'd been offered it.
You know it won`t happen Batfink. We will have to ride it out, while Neid will be enjoying Rio and do what she really wants to do. Lay on the sunlounger and enjoy the Copacabana. They all just sit there and will only stand up, when it`s time for that silly high five. I call it Neid Five The problem is, that the german players are still good enough to win, in spite off the restraints put on them and the neccessary changes will not be started. Germany has to fail really really bad and play like the men`s dark ages in the early 2000s, then we might get a modern and competent coach.
@Romario'sgurl I just read the locked down threat and seeing the reactions from some posters, you were 100% right. What lurks in the shadow, will be brought to the light !!!
http://www.rp-online.de/sport/fussb...eftige-kritik-an-dfb-medizinern-aid-1.5222892 Popp and Peter got injured during the tourney and she still forced them to play. Both out for weeks. guess the same will be true for Maro?
What a scandal.Popp has had a tear of the menicus, since the Sweden game and Neids medical team failed to even do a MRI. Get these amateurs off the German NT.
Did she force them or did they say their knee hurt but that they could go? That latter one is not uncommon, I think, among players. I don't have German language skills beyond google translate so this is an honest question by me re: what the article said. I agree that not doing an MRI & not doing proper treatment borders on incompetent and is wrong. To me, Marozsan looked really hobbled when she came in for the USA game and shouldn't have been on the field, imo, b/c she couldn't run properly. Using seemed ill-advised at the least.
The DFB medical staff just didnt do those treatments. Popp in this case said she had pain in the knee but was told she had to play. The same with Maro.
Thanks for the clarification. I appreciate it. Told she had to play despite pain vs telling the coach she wanted/could play despite pain is very different. And to not do the tests? Very bad by the German coaching & training staff. Very bad.
Well, it seems it's not reserved to the NT. Have you forgotten... Popp (again) forced to play the UWCL final in 2013 against Lyon, although she was seriously injured, because Kellermann didn't have any LB left ? So, Popp had to play as a LB (she used to play in this position before becoming a forward) in order to block Thomis. What she did brillantly... but it definitely cost her the Euro she could not play right after... Kellerman was as guilty as Neid was during the WC. But Neid just committed a big mistake in addition since she kept Popp on the field although Alex had been really, really poor since the first game...
Celia Sasic is withdrawing from top-level football with immediate effect in order to finish her university studies, start a professional career, and have a family.
Great player and sweet person. And how I hate the idea that @Batfink is dancing with joy at the moment (he will probably deny it)...
This is kind of shocking to me. I wish her all the best, of course. What field are her studies in? Both she and Lauren (Cheney) Holiday retired after this WWC and both cited "family" as a main reason. Holiday says she'll finish the season w/ her NWSL club.
Holiday only retires from the NT, doesn't she ? I mean, she won't stop her career at the end of this season in NWSL, or did I miss something ?
