The ratings just came in for last nights game. It scored a The thing is that soccer has simple rules. A player is either offside or onside and its obvious to tell with instant replay. Other sports like football, baseball, and basketball have deep complex rules. All fox needs are some co-commentators with good knowledge of the game (*cough* Sky sports *cough*) to comment on a call. I could care less if you want a rules expert during the pre/post match show, but in the middle of the match all I want to hear are the commentators.
The rules are not simple for the novice fan who might very well be watching seriously for the first time.
I agree the rules may not be simple for the novice fan, but the (existing) commentators should be able to explain the rules.

The Best Of FOX's FIFA Women's World Cup Coverage - Dan Levy - Awful Announcing - Thursday, July 2. http://awfulannouncing.com/2015/the...e-best-of-foxs-fifa-womens-world-cup-coverage
I read the article yesterday and all it does is praise FOX. World soccer talk wrote an article talking about whats good and whats bad. http://worldsoccertalk.com/2015/06/...d-but-is-still-below-bar-set-by-nbc-and-espn/
Notice that FOX Sports uses two or even three people to announce a game. On German television, for the WWC, there is only one announcer, which means no color commentator. Maybe because soccer is the popular game in Germany there is no need for color commentators. Then again, the BBC uses two people to announce the games and soccer is big there.
The article is titled "the best of the WWC on FOX". Wouldn't expect it to have a lot of the bad in it.
Well said. The typical WWC viewer (especially for USA games) probably isn't waking up at 6:45am to watch Liverpool v Sunderland on NBCSN at the local pub. The final might be a different situation though. It's the "Olympic effect" as previously said, with a side of "Fox-style" broadcasting.
JP just said Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler "Japan is on the board" around the 52:00 mark on the scoreboard. I'll withhold more as the spoiler may give something away.
Watched the Champions League Final in Berlin, they also used one announcer. It was fine for me even though I can't speak German
Read a quote in the latest SI media column from Fox' EP, basically saying they will go with a two man booth for the 2018 WC.

Looks like Fox will be telecasting the ticker tape parade for the USWNT live from New York city tomorrow: http://www.foxsports.com/presspass/latestnews/2015/07/09/uswnt-parade
FOX Sports 1 (and online at FOX Sports Go) - 11:00 am ET - 2:00 pm ET - is showing the ticker tape parade not your regular FOX station. Don't want anyone to record the wrong channel. pic.twitter.com/GuVjz5DWCt— Carli Lloyd (@CarliLloyd) July 10, 2015 FOX Sports 2 is getting into the act as well - they are showing the final 15 minutes - 2:00 pm ET - 2:15 pm ET. The reason coverage switches over from FOX Sports 1 to FOX Sports 2 at 2:00 pm ET - FOX Sports 1 starts their second round coverage of the womens US Open golf tourney then. You can also watch this online via ESPN3 and the United States soccer website. Tomorrow is the BIG day. #USWNTParade in #NYC at 11 a.m.. Free to attend.
