It will be a tough test to open the "fall season". Maybe it's best to get this out of the way early? I don't really expect a result here, but crazier things have happened. You know the Cosmos will be putting out a full strength team midweek, so maybe we can catch them out come Sunday.
Actually we have never been able to do better than a draw against you guys, even with a full strength squad. Playing Red Bulls tomorrow I also expect Gio to start our strongest team possible, which means we may be without Senna and Raul against Indy. It's gonna be a tough game for both teams, hopefully we see some of Haji Wright that game. He's the U 17 forward we have, he just had a hat trick for Cosmos B.
As a USA fan i'd love to see Haji Wright get some playing time, a 17 year old getting first team time is never a bad thing! Still though it's gonna be a tough game. Hopefully we continue to improve under Regan. Is Pena going to be back for this game? He'd be a big boost.
Cosmos had a terrible result in the US Open Cup at midweek, and they don't have much to fight for in the fall, having won the spring season. Hard to say what their mental state will be.
Tough night for watching--I've been bouncing back and forth between this and the World Cup. So I missed Woj's goal. In what I've seen, the Eleven have looked composed, with some decent passing. But I'm told Hyland had a couple of defensive flubs. Ring just squandered a great opportunity.
On the road, against the best team of the spring season, I'll take the draw. Each team got a luck-assisted goal. Thank goodness the officials finally got the offside call right on what would have been the winning goal for the Cosmos. Going through some old boxes this weekend, I found the attached. Games with the Cosmos don't really leave me conflicted--I'm Indy through and through. But there's still a small tug of nostalgia.
i didn't catch much of the game due to the wwc final. and actually, the times i flipped between games, i missed goals. can't complain about a point on the road at NYC though.
