For many the 80s was one of the best decades of soccer: Teams, games and fantastic players. So I created this post, if the US were to qualify for World Cup 1982 and 1986 what the US Squad of you?

    1986 Squad :

    G ( 2 )

    Arnie Mausser
    Victor Nogueira

    D ( 8 )

    Mike Windischmann
    Steve Trittschuh
    Brian Bliss
    Kevin Crow
    John Doyle
    Desmond Armstrong
    Jimmy Banks
    John Stollmeyer

    M ( 7 )

    Rick Davis
    Hugo Perez
    Mike Fox
    Paul Caligiuri
    Perry Van Der Beck
    Chico Borja
    Tab Ramos

    F ( 5 )

    Eric Eichmann
    Jim Gabarra or Christopher Sullivan
    Peter Vermes
    Bruce Murray
    Frank Klopas

I would take a 12-yr-old Eddie Pope over John Doyle. ('86)

I played with Desmond Armstrong at the University of Maryland, grew up playing club and high school against Bruce Murray, and later coached with Jimmy Banks, and would just point out that Des, Bruce, Jimmy, Peter Vermes, Tab Ramos, and Eric Eichmann were all my age-ish, and we were all still in high school during the 1982 World Cup. Having played with and/or against these guys in high school and college, they were always standouts and exceptional players, but not full USMNT or World Cup level ready at that early stage of their careers.
