Hey, I love seeing the best teams wining, by using the most aesthetically pleasing football possible; but lets be real here, it's not like we didn't see France start this tournament struggling with a England team they should have massacred, or somehow losing to Colombia...; France have hardly been amazing, or faultless in this world cup, and beyond 60 mins in this game, were hardly the juggernaut your suggesting they were during the rest of the matches 60 mins of play either.

Japan wasted loads of chances, playing great football, losing to a rather oaf-ish USA in the last Olympic final; a final where the most clear and blatant of PK's were never called too. Honestly, this Germany vs France match, wasn't that kind of game.....

Germany couldn't match early French intensity, but still managed to grind through it, and eventually got enough of the ball to get more shots on target than France. Germany couldn't match France tactically, forcing them to try and stop play before it got near the penalty box, and yet the game had 19-20 fouls a piece for both teams too lol.

Disgraceful or inferior football seems to be a rather bitter way of explaining away what took place here, no? I mean Germany didn't resort to blatant dives, outlandish leg braking tackles, or straight up deception to get the benefit of referees calls. It was eventually a closely contested game, where initial overwhelming French dominance wasn't capitalized on, allowing a always dangerous/determined side like Germany to find another route to victory.

I don't understand the narrative people like yourself are trying to create here, where Germany are the big bad evil of women's football, with everything constantly in their favour as the worlds most privileged wnt program lol. Like the French girls, Germany have students, training police officers, and zoo keepers in their team too, and were only out on the field as equals, in the same tense conditions that featured possible bad ref calls, in deciding who's making a WC semi final.

I think French players should apologize for playing so dirty and kicking the Germans.

The turf may have caused more damage to the German girls than anything France did in 120 mins of football.

Have you seen so many players hold there ankles in one match...:speechless:

The good thing about @debzy trolling around in the women's forum is we have the bragging rights for at least another 2 years to call her out on who is Europe's no.1.

Yes, your point is correct. But that's not what I had in mind.

In a nutshell, the one and only reason why we've lost is very simple:
Out of our 24 shots, only 4 were on-target.

Had it been 12, we would have lead 3-0 and we wouldn't have cared about conceiding a penalty at the 83rd minute. If we want to win the Olympics, we know the stats on which we should work on.

Colombia (with Nigeria) is the surprise of the tournament, England decided to park the bus against us....but you are right France (like all favorites usually do) was loading , a world cup is usually play in crescendo, reach the team top form in semi-final...just like Japan is doing..
Silvia Neid said "We were poor in all areas of the pitch, and we were made to chase the ball." So who better than her can describe her team performance...and who are you to disagree?..lool

    I said BYE.

    Keep calm dudes.

Debzy's frustration is perfectly understandable and I share it wildly. I see no reason for this to go into insults.

True but from this 24 shots two were absolutely sitters (Necib and Thiney) not scoring them is unthinkable at a world cup.

Who started to insult and lie here, as usual ? Obviously, you don't know the historic on BS or you would not said that. I never ever attacked debzy first. But when she insults me and lies on me, I have the full right to defend myself. If you don't want it to happen, then say your word as soon as she starts. Bloody simple, isn't it ? ;)
And about frustration, I'll remind you that I TOO is a French supporter who feels extremely frustrated today. I didn't consider that it allowed me to attack people and insult the German players, turning them in pure hooligans in studs. One can be frustrated and sad and also respectful. And a bit clever. If possible.

Oh well, I haven't followed it all then. Sorry for that.

The thing is just that I'm seeing two people bikering at each other and this can't lead us anywhere. That's all.

Yeah, Germany were poor in every area of the pitch, and thanks to Neid's awful tactical choices, were left with chasing a game for much longer than what should have been reasonable. What's your point?

I would have liked a more 50/50 game for a straight forward 90 min conclusion, but I'm not going to sh*t on Germany for finding another way to win, and I'm not going to pretend like we haven't seen this kind anticlimactic end result from France either. France should piss on England, and even on a bad day, never lose to Colombia, but your getting all crazy over dominating Germany, where all the match statistics suggest the game finished as close as the need for PK's suggested...
So why are you sh*ting all over Germany for the very things France could control...? By all means, be annoyed with the way an exciting French team has constantly lost important games over the years; but I don't see how any of this relates to your throwing feces at more rational views on the game, or the grit of Germany.

In tournament football, sometimes you have to grind it out.

Gromit... just to play devil's advocate... on the other hand mental strength got them to a shootout with the world #1.

Hard to disagree with any of that, but you've left out what actually delivered the death blow - the goalkeeper in the shootout was never going to save a shot unless it was somehow hit right at her. Her form was weak and even when she guesses correctly she didn't have the conviction to stop it. All she does is basically fall down each time, possibly with a half step before it. Angerer propels herself and gets up and out on every shot.

World #1/2 have Solo/Angerer. They are physical and mental monsters. The "best" team in the world stops at the 11th player, and as it turned out and often does when you compete against the top two teams in the world - that was the one that mattered.

Germany was lucky in the penalties? Are u serious. All were well struck and low. France had a horrible last PK and I believe Necib while making hers went high which is risky

Germany dominated the penalties as they always do

I – alas – totally agree with you. When I wrote that Bouhaddi was good, I was meaning during the 120'. Except a missed clearance with her fists at the beginning of the game (more or less), she didn't miss anything and had a good game. Much better than expected, because Bouhaddi is really far from Angerer and Solo, no doubt about it, and is used to commit a mistake per game in average.
She was strongly criticized before the match and reacted with vanity (someone talked here about her surrealist ITW in which she talked about herself on the third person ). After having been criticized by journalists and supporters for her mistakes, she was now for her personnality, which has always been a big problem everywhere she played.
So, I suppose she was very determined to shine during the game. And she did.... until the shoot-out and you are right there. She acted as always does on PSO. You analyzed it very well, I have nothing to add about it...

I repeat what I wrote numerous times : Sarah is a good keeper, able to do some fantastic things and a second later being terrible. She is not the best French keeper, but she is playing for Lyon and today that is enough. Even Lyon's GK #2 (Méline Gérard, who is much better than Bouhaddi according to me) is #3 in the NT, and Céline Deville, now in Juvisy, is #2, and was already when playing #2 in... Lyon, as Bouhaddi's sub. But, unlike Gérard, Deville is a very poor GK. She is still in the NT because she is an extreme cheerful and funny person who is very, very important in the team...
But the best GK in France, imho, is Laetitia Philippe, Montpellier's (MHSC). Unfortunately, she seems to be made with glass, being very regularly injured. If she becomes a bit luckier and can remain fit a long time, no doubt that she will send Bouhaddi to the bench... Unless a players lobby militates in favour of Sarah. Because, yes, such things can also happen in the French NT, as in anyother else.;)

I swear doing pks against Germany the goal keeper should just stand to one side to throw them off. Is this allowed? They are so automatic
