In chronological order: 1) We drink margaritas from 3 to 5 pm at Gonzalez on Jefferson Blvd in Oak Cliff. My favorite waitress is working, and even though we are not sitting in her section, or even in the same room that she is working, she agrees to wait on us. (Possibly this might have something to do with the fact that I typically tip her around 40%) 2) As we leave the restaurant, I, on a whim, decide to walk down to the Texas Theater and get a photo or two ( I always have a camera on me). While I compose my shot, my wife says, "Hey, look what I found" and she hands me a some green folding money she picked up from the sidewalk. It is a 100 dollar bill. I forget about photography, and to hell with the Texas Theater. 3) We drive to Fair Park, marveling at our fortune, and not being able to find the Inferno tailgate area, we decide to hold our own tailgate near Gate 5 behind the Bandshell. As soon as we deploy, a midnight blue Scion XB parks near us. I also drive a Scion XB, however silver, and I make conversation with the driver of the other XB. Turns out he has two extra tickets to the game, which he generously gives to my companions, and though there are three who need admission, they all split the remaining cost, and get in to the game for something like three bucks each. Our benefactor only accepts a single Bud Light for the two tickets. 4) I have religiously filled out the raffle tickets for each half of each Burn game since 2002 with no luck, until tonight, I won the second half drawing, winning a Burn goalkeeper jersey. Now I could have won a team signed ball (already got that) or a team signed jersey (already got that) but I've always wanted a goalkeeper shirt, and a black one at that, and that was indeed the prize. 5) Then we won the game. 6) After that, and best of all, I received a squeezy hug from Mrs Texas Arsenal, who genuinely seemed to miss me and my esposa from the company of the Inferno, and made me feel like a real part of the True Brotherhood. 7) We make it home alive. 8) There are a few cold ones in the fridge. What a great day. The Vorpal Blade
dude no way me too man....i won 30 bucks in poker hot damn...oh yea and the burn won hot damn...oh yea and ou won hot damn
You remind me of another positive thing on the day, the Gunners' unbeaten streak is still alive! That's not really a stroke of luck either, but that game could have easily gotten away.
It sure could have. I thought Bolton outplayed them and the definetly had more hunger. Next week Arsenal v Man City. Stay tuned for details.
I hate posting me too posts. But, thanks for sharing your story of good fortune. It was good for the soul.
I'm particular fond of point number 6. We need to remind ourselves of the good fortunes we all share as members of The INFERNO. We all share true comaraderie and enjoy the times we spend together. These are indeed good times. We love to bitch & moan about issues that at the end of the day they all seem trivial. The off-season is going to be hell on earth.
It won't be that bad. I'll keep y'all busy bitchin & moanin with preparations for Frisco. There will be lots to do (& stadium watching will be a lot more interesting then).
6) After that, and best of all, I received a squeezy hug from Mrs Texas Arsenal, who genuinely seemed to miss me and my esposa from the company of the Inferno, and made me feel like a real part of the True Brotherhood. Buck a Brat night AND squeezy hugs from Mrs.TA night - I got some hugs too!!! GO BURN
Man, I had forgotten it was Buck a Brat night, should've put that in the original tale. I blame the alcohol...
WHAT! I thought you guys were. It is only $10 to join and you get a t-shirt, bumper stickers and a $10 credit at the Burn gift shop. So it is essentially free. If not this year you guys should join in Frisco! It is a great thing to be a part of.
