If there were ever a chance to mix up tactics, this is it. Four game losing skid, CAM suspended, and our lone striker in a slump. Switch to a 4-4-2 to get BWP some help up top and push Felipe a little further forward in the midfield.
Get out there and try really hard to get a result. Try to stop the bleeding. After a while the ball will start bouncing our way again and we'll win one.
No Beckerman, and also looks like no Olave and Schuler again. They played great against KC though and I got to watch a lot of that. Morales at this point doesn't do a ton defensively but he's pretty physical and still good offensively. Their backline is generally bad though considering those centerbacks. We will probably lose because we have no offense outside of Grella right now and I find that pretty funny. ----------Abang--------- BWP---Davis------Grella ------Felipe---Dax Miller DP Zubar Lade I've had enough of Duvall now... Give Lade a shot. he looked good against Atlanta.
once the games begin the coach is the man who has to get the most out of the ingredients available. time to start.
Sam confirmed out for this one as well. Would like to see Marsch experiment with a 4-4-2 with Kljestan out and Abang earning some more minute.
He's been pretty bad all season. Constantly gets turned on the dribble, not much situational awareness, can't cross the ball for shit... I'm not the biggest Lade fan either but might be worth mixing it up during a midweek game.
For those that are looking for a real DP to be added to the roster might prefer to take it from another angle and prefer that we lose tonight. Perhaps Ali/Marsch will then start to cave into the pressure to bring someone in. The less success we have, the better chances of seeing something. While Mix, Pirlo, Lampard and Villa in NY adding another level of pressure. And for those people all worried over these early points only need to look back at NE from last season. They sucked early, they got Jones and made a run and then past us to the Cup.
RBNY is a very mediocre team in both personnel and results. That being said, I feel like this team is one quality attacking player from being a solid team. There are other holes, sure, but the lack of incisiveness in the final third is the most glaring problem. Get a playmaking attacking mid or a more dangerous LM and I think we'll see the results start trending back in the right direction. For this game I would play a 4-4-2, as well, pairing Abang and BWP up top. Give Lade a start, sure. I would also start to more fully integrate Davis and Sanchez into the team. At this point you are just treading water, might as well do it with younger guys.
One attacking truly-creative midfielder would be big. Give us a Higuine, Morales or a Valeri type and we would see our offenve engine start to turn over. And sure, play the scrubs now and get them some experience. That is exactly what this time of the year is for. This way we will know what we have in the guys for later on in the meat of the season.
No Beckerman and playing 11 v 9 and we can only muster a 1 goal win at home??? However, points are points and we need them badly.
We are so boring to watch right now. Need offensive force in the midfield for this team to even be watchable at this point.
playing at home, up two men, against a poor lineup. it looks like a great chance to get last year's leading scorer out of his big slump. right, jesse? right? are you there? jesse?...
Nice team goal. (Not 100% sure Davis intended that as a pass though) BWP seems lost in the wilderness. Otherwise not much else can be taken from this one. Besides of course, that it was kind of dull. Guys that get excited over mid season points at least have that.
Scratch my 'nice team goal' comment above. Davis admitted the pass to be a botched shot. So basically, we scored 0 intentional goals with a 2 man advantage for much of the match. Bravo RB! Atleast we tried pretty hard.
Sean Davis impresses, shows versatility with Red Bulls I think what has Davis in Marsch's good graces is his motor. He knows how to keep those legs moving, stay busy and involved in the match. But he's stepping up his game. I also think that when it comes to integrating the likes of Abang and Manolo Sanchez, having Davis out there also helps them get into the game more quickly. The understanding those players have from playing together on RBII is invaluable for their success in MLS.
