Okay, I just checked up on the site to see what was going on and the last few videos posted on there are in Portuguese. Could this be like an ESPN Deportes situation in which Youtube can only broadcast the matches in Portuguese here in the States? Or am I reading too much into it? Hmm. We will find out in a few hours...
Javier Tebas, president of the LFP, told a Spanish radio station that there will be changes to some kickoff times in La Liga beginning with the 2015-16 season. To satisfy the demands of British broadcasters, Saturday's 18:00 kickoffs will be pushed back 15 minutes to 6:15pm (12:15pm U.S. ET). I believe this has to do with a law in the UK in which no live football can be shown on tv between 3pm - 5:15pm local UK time. Sunday's 17:00 and 21:00 matches (11am and 3pm U.S. ET) will begin earlier but Tebas did not specify the new times. No changes will be made to games played on Fridays and Mondays, while simultaneous kickoffs of some matches have not been ruled out. Tebas also suggested that the Saturday 16:00 and 18:15 kickoffs and the Sunday 19:00 kickoff would host the top matches of the weekend." http://www.marca.com/en/2015/06/11/en/football/spanish_football/1434041299.html
Im a little delayed but this is what bein should be all the time. Im watching the pre match show and it has people who actually know the sport. Ive said it before and ill say it again, the talent works in doha, the dopes work in miami.
Very good coverage in English. Spanish though is a little disappointing. Seems like BEIN spent the big bucks on the English side of things. All the Spanish channel could afford was EL KIKIN Fonseca from Mexico. Yawn.
And as soon as I compliment the English coverage... ... the production team makes huge mistakes. They came back from commercials late twice so we missed most of the analysis at halftime. What in the world is wrong? I can only see commercials for hot belt waist minimizing and prostate medications so many times.
The talentless hacks that work in Miami. Cordero, Bonetti, St Joy. These are not experts on anything. Gullit, Andy Gray, etc know the sport. Theyve played at a high level. Theyve worked for Sky Sports. Its not a local high school talent show.
I'd love to have you lay out your broadcasting/journalist/soccer credentials for us....since you seem to be such an expert and all. I just want to get a better understanding of how YOU are an 'expert' on anything related to broadcasting & journalism.
I rarely watch any of the pre-game or post-game or news programs so Corolla's concerns aren't mine. But, Jeremy, if you are reporting back to producers in production meetings, can you *please* get the producers to re-consider their approach to editing games and ask them to reconsider how they air games on delay. For example, Ligue 1 will almost always feature 2-3 delayed games each week. One usually appears on Tuesday. Ok, not totally late, although not ideal if one of the sides is playing in a Tuesday CL match. The other appears on Thursday. Thursday? Really? And both games are edited (usually 10 minutes each half). Instead of chopping the games to show the prostate pill commercials, encourage your producers to not chop the games and instead work with your advertising sales reps to do on-screen ads during the match. We can't ffwd through on-screen ads, but we certainly do during half-time of games like these. So, no edits, show the games in a timely fashion, and use these Tuesday, Thursday slots for some other sport. Oh, and no more 90in30 or 90in60. Football = 90 so show the full 90. With that said, on the plus side, kudos to BeIn for running against the idiocy tide and not using a sports ticker on the screen. BeIN's mostly clean screens are much better than some of the competition that think we need to scores of other sports on endless repeat. Thanks for considering all of this.
Ok so please tell me where I said I was an expert or that BeIn should hire me to take anyones job there. Ive stated many times here how the talent from Doha has real experience and a knowledge of the game. Maybe someone else on the board here can tell us who in Miami is worth watching as clearly you think Im biased and as you work for Bein you are not unbiased yourself. Mr St Louis how about reading this thread. Mostly negative and mostly written by other people than me. Bein sent me a survey a few months ago I went to fill it out but they shut it down. I sent a long email with my suggestions as a football fanatic, no response. Now I complement Bein for hiring real talent and you take issue with it because it goes against you and your buddies at Bein Lite. Thats an interesting way to respond to criticism. So enough from me. Im interested in hearing from my fellow posters on the board here. What does everyone think of the Miami Bein crew?
If a game starts Saturday at 12:15 P.M. USA time and the game after it isn't pushed back 15 minutes also, there will be overlap between that and the 2:00 P.M., making it inconvenient for a channel that shows both games. The same goes for Sunday if the 3:00 P.M. game is moved up and starts before the 1:00 P.M. game ends.
No one has to have a degree in journalism to know how bad Bein Sports USA is. I watch Bein Sports Mideast and France on a regular basis and it's very obvious that is a polished product, USA is not. You really cannot defend your horrible amateur announcing crews of Bonetti, cringeworthy Cordero, Mettalus and Hudson broadcasting in the air conditioned room in Miami pretending to be in Europe. If they were SO good, why don't we hear them in the Mideast with La Liga, Serie A? Because the complaints would be flying in. Your pundit teams are better, no one can question Vieri or Gullit, but when you mix it with some of the jokers above, it's hard to consider it credible. I love Keys and Gray and watch religiously weekly, but I really don't know how much Andy would know about South American soccer outside of la liga or premier league players. Keys is a great host and could do anything, Kay Murray is fantastic as well. So as a consumer of football for over 30years from around the world I can spot amateur hour, and Bein Sports has a lot of it going on. Cantona---
I watched The Express show last night after the match with those four and it started out well. When they focused on the game and the turning points and the players it seemed professional. But then they started to go on these weird tangents that have nothing to do with the Copa America. Talking about the Italian national team and the Dutch players going to Italy and cynical football and Euro transfers and I was like wut?????? Just Focus on the Copa please.
Where did this Julian Gonzalez guy come from? You can tell he loves the sound of his voice and is bit flamboyant at times but he seems to be entertaining. Has a personality.
If bein is paying big bucks to la liga, could they have any say or influence on la liga start times or are they just paying peanuts compared to others. As a fan, I think la liga has overdone it with start times. There is a good side to not seeing every team every week on tv, and following the steps of other big leagues when it comes to scheduling would work better longterm. Also, having games on both Friday and Monday nights is another overkill. Hope thy realize that sooner rather than later.
Tonight will be a first for BEIN. It will be their First broadcast of a Senior National team Mexico match. Even if it is not the Tricolor "A" team let's see how their ratings are affected. I believe it is also the first time since 1999 Mexico's Senior National team will not be available on OTA television (in a major competition) in the USA.
I agree with this 100%! Keys and Gray and I find Kay Murray to be excellent in her role. I find it funny how St Louis is on here arguing a point most people are already in agreement (lack of quality on bein) instead of picking the brains and learning from people who are legends in his industry while in Chile.
uhh... I missed it. So the show called "The Express" (which starts tonight at 6:30p ET) is the pre match show or does the pre-match show start at 7:20p ET? Just want to make sure so I don't miss it again tonight...
Home countries control their WCQ rights, and in 2009 the USA clinched qualification in Honduras on closed circuit television. How come Honduras let their game hosting Mexico that year be OTA in the USA?
Cause I believe Univision put up the cash and they gladly took it. ***Edit it was Telemundo who payed the big bucks for it.
Is it not a waste to complain about scheduling? I assume decisions on that are going to be entirely based on ratings and what they are able to fit between live matches and commercials for their sponsors. At this point its really about strengthening the quality of the product.
You realize that for a large part of the English speaking world Richard Keys and Andy Gray are a joke. Using those two as examples of top level punditry to knock down the American based people at Bein is kind of ironic.
They were THE voices of Sky sports during the Premier League's rise to dominance. Their off camera incidents landed them in hot water. So are you telling me that Beins American voices are more qualified or better quality than keys and gray?
cant remember his 1st name but last name is Dean i remember him from Gol TV well he is doing the copa game right now. i am starting to think its gol tv part 2.
