Give me one reason to believe this isn't true. Precourt doesn't give a shit about this team's history. http://www.massivereport.com/2015/6/10/8755843/columbus-crew-sc-to-abandon-gold-kit-in-2016
1. This is an awful decision if true; I have no reason to doubt it. 2. Genuinely curious does anyone want to see a jersey inspired by the Columbus City flag? I love Columbus but our flag sucks; sorry it does it's a mess the jersey will probably be a mess too.
I honestly couldn't care less. If they go away next year it's doubtful they will be gone forever. They've had plenty of kits throughout the years that weren't the solid yellow, and I hope they have a lot more.
I know this may not be the popular opinion but I would like some variety. I own a ton of yellow soccer gear. Something different is ok with me for 2 years.
Just another reason for more people to complain and no one is suprised either. This club could sign Messi and everyone would bitch in some way. I could care less what they wear as long as they win but hey being miserable is part of crew fan culture anymore so carry on.
I hated it when 3G spent the whole post game conference not talking about the team and only talking about what a great deal we could get at the gear shop . . . I love the yellow jersey but I have to admit I love the black even more. And I would agree if we go a year or two without yellow and have a Columbus kit, I would be fine. On a side note it does seem like the league in general is trying to go to a color kit and a white kit. It was weird to see Chicago this year in a white kit. It felt odd.
Can you picture the city of Columbus flag? If you can't it's probably because it's terrible and no one flies it. http://www.ted.com/talks/roman_mars...signed_thing_you_ve_never_noticed?language=en
Wow. I wouldn't mind a flag kit, like colorado or new england has, but to do away with yellow is madness. Are we getting a new logo as well next season then? Yellow makes columbus different. I dont wanna be a red or blue team, like 3/4 of the league is blue or red. The yellow is so distinctive, other than dortmund, villarreal, and brazil, I'm struggling to think of another team that wears yellow as their primary kit. This would be really sad, but with us wearing black so much at home this season, it would make sense. Edit: Jardy is reporting it as well now
Of all the things to care about, this is the silliest. 1. How many more yellow jerseys do you need? 2. We haven't always had banana kits. Heck, if anything this is like...a throwback! Super hipster.
I'm honestly surprised by the lack of caring - Columbus's colors are Black and Gold - to abandon the Gold is just... blasphemy to me.
A color kit and white kit makes sense...it's better than the "black kit and white kit" of the early days of the league. Chicago has had a white kit before. ----- A flag jersey? There goes that "Better dead than red" saying. With that said, yeah, it's probably only for a year or two. If they wanted a flag jersey, it would have made better sense as an alternate. It seems like this has potential to be one of the worst all-time kits along with the "Stadium Fifth Anniversary" and the infamous "Tire Tracks" which thankfully, never saw the light of day. The other one which never saw the light of day was the one where the stripes were too orange which should have debuted for 2002, but we ended up wearing the 1999-2001 blacks (one of the best) another game. "We all cheer for a yellow and blue and red soccer team" Huh? Other than money, which it obviously is, I have no other idea why they keep changing the design so much. It wouldn't financially kill them to keep the same design for more than two years. Heck, Philadelphia *STILL* has the same design we had in 2008...ancient history by CCSC standards.
We should change the primary colors of our jersey every year to ensure that fans don't have too much of one color in their wardrobe. In fact, that's why I have been so pleased with the black jerseys. Black shirts being so hard to find these days, the black jerseys really provided me something different.
Path to discrediting someone online: A) You're a hipster. B) Even though the team isn't winning and all of that teams traditions are being white washed, why can't you just be happy that there's a team to support? C) You're to old to get it.
2015 - Black 2016 - Green 2017- Orange 2018- Red 2019 - Sky Blue 2020 - Purple 2021 - sea foam green 2022 - cyan 2023 - chartruse A kit in every color!
I think its pretty awesome, especially since we have a soccer team with which to make an issue about this, unlike... say... Las Vegas
I'm just so happy Precourt bought our team and made it his. You know? I couldn't possibly complain about something as small as changing the goddamn identity of the club.
