I would have to think that the X's are a pretty decent boot if Alves is going to give them a run out in the Champions League Final without being paid, or did he finally re-up with adidas? I thought he had inked a deal with Nike.

a lot of people were slipping tonight, Barca screwed up so many counter attacks by just slipping in the box.

I love these videos on Barca's youtube site. Really gives you insight on what the players really wear, especially when it comes to shin pads.

Did you notice that Vidal's boots look like they've been scribbled on with a sharpie?

I'm a little suprised by how few ladies are wearing AGs at this WC.

Ripinoe in Vapor AGs and Trusox...

Yea I think usually the American or Canadian players wear the AGs, not so much for the rest though. FG works too anyway, though slightly more risk. Then again, the turf is partially natural, isn't it? The turf was being watered at the interval for matches at BC Place Stadium.

FG boots are fine when playing on the modern, high-end artifical grass pitches, especially if they water the pitch before hand. If anything, it might become slippery when using AG

There are grade levels of quality for AG pitches and the highest grade levels are supposed to accommodate FG or AG footwear. In terms of performance I have noticed very moderate differences between true AG and standard FG. Old style longer blades (think leather Preds) seem to stick more and don't rotate easily, while older style conical molded (think Copa) are perfectly fine for rotational stability and grip. Newer "blades" like the Samba F50 do very well because they are shorter and arranged well for rotation. You'd be surprised at the amount of pro players that are not concerned about or informed on this topic.

Per the "natural" aspect of the turf, that usually means the filling is a natural material like cork vs. man made rubber.

Only Alves would practice in the Adidas `X`the week before the CL finale to play in the Hypervenom II in the 1.half and Vapor X in the 2.half of the finale^^

    JC, quick question on turf.

With the 'levels', is there also difference in length of 'fake grass'? I remember playing on a turf field a couple years ago that is probably the highest grade turf I ever played o and when doing cuts and other things actual blades of fake grass would come up and it was 'cushy' too like real grass would be.

In other words, are lower level 'turf' 'shorter' in length is my question?

I think that is probably the case...the older stuff isn't as advanced and is often worn down/lacking refill , that will also make it seem shorter.

I noticed that a lot of the Ivory Coast team were wearing turf shoes against Germany last week. I'm surprised they weren't slipping everywhere because they watered the pitch before the game.
