I still believe Halsti will end up a dud. Hope I'm wrong, but Olsen doesn't do well with guys new to MLS. I'm sure others will still complain, but I have yet to see otherwise.

I hope he doesn't play yet. That means our current starters are bossing it.

Open Cup should be just fine to hand him a debut.

    Thx,

    Jay!

I watched some video from training camp matches and he looked smooth and composed. I think he's going to do well, but I'm biased in his favor because I talked to him at Pinstripes and found him charming and mature. (It also helped that he is totally fluent in English.)

Dammit. I've been meaning to start a thread about this since I saw the stories on Monday. All of them seem to track back to Lyle Yorks, Kitchen's (and many other players') agent. So it could be true; or it could be Kitchen's agent trying to strengthen Kitchen's position in some future negotiation with DCU.

Think he did fine in Philadelphia, but not the best match to gauge what he brings.

I actually saw flashes of a guy that could be really good. He worked extremely hard and picked spots to high pressure in the first half. He made a few really good passes and kept the ball moving well. Once he gets used to the guys around him, he could be quite smooth and a great addition.

He had some great touches and some clear Mis-communications with his teammates. Definitely showed the commitment to defense that Olsen demands. He definitely made some nice attacking passes where others would have opted for the back pass. He has what one of my old coaches called "soft feet". I'm hopeful that he gets more chances.

Think he showed what pretty much we all expected. Solid, strong, not a #10. Won a few aerial balls.

I think it was him that the foul was called on for the Pontius/own goal goal.

Halsti showed the calm confidence I remember in Branko Boscovic. I favor trying hard to find him a starter's position, not just a sub for Davy, et. al...

Curious as to who would you have him replace?

    I'd start him over Arnaud.

This would be a very strong midfield trio for a 4-3-3

    Hamid
    Franklin Opare/Birn Boswell Korb
    Kitchen
    Arnaud Halsti
    Rolfe FABI Pontius

He could be put in as a rotation for the CBs and for Kitchen/Arnaud

Can he play right back and take Franklin's spot? Every time Franklin gets in the attacking third I know his cross is sailing over everybody or hitting the first defender.
