Seems to be more of an investment for scalpers than a soccer event. It would appear sales are going quite well.
I don't think they are waiting for Man U / Barca sales. That ship has already sailed. I think they are more trying to wait for people to buy Stanford Galaxy and Levi's Orlando tickets first.
The word from Quakes' staffers on Saturday was that the promoters will announce the venue for the SJ/Man U match today. Berkeley? https://www.stubhub.com/san-jose-ea...alifornia-memorial-stadium-7-21-2015-9311553/. Fingers crossed for both the location and a presale that guarantees STH's tickets if we want them.
If that StubHub link is correct...yecch. Of all the venue options they had to choose from, that seems like the worst possible one for a Tuesday match.
Yeah parking at Memorial is a bitch on the best of days (ie: weekends). Weeknight, it's going to be a nightmare.
BART people. BART. don't even think of parking. also, its turf, can't believe Man U and LVG would agree to this
BART is still a 2 1/2 mile walk from the stadium. Not exactly an appealing option for many. And yes Memorial is fake grass unless they do some form of temporary overlay.
G Google Maps shows it as 1.1 miles walking from Downtown Berkeley Bart to the stadium. And for many of us--BART to/from where? Walk back to BART post-game, then take two trains to Millbrae (the 2nd one runs only every 20 minutes), then drive home to Southern Santa Clara County? Or I guess drive from the Peninsula to the East Bay somewhere and BART up/back from there?
No best option if you're going BART from anywhere in Santa Clara County is to go to the Fremont Station and get on the Orange line. Milbrae may be a little faster by car, but you lose a ton of time slogging through the SF stations in both directions and you have have to change trains coming home since the Red line doesn't run to Milbrae after the game. That said, BART is still a fairly time consuming process adding about 45 minutes to your trip home.
Yes. Memorial Stadium is better than Levi's in many ways. In the bowl configuration, we will get more bang for our ticket buck. BART (even combined with parking at an East Bay station) to Berkeley is more accessible and faster for more people than a combination of Caltrain/VTA to Levi's, especially if there is a shuttle from Berkeley BART to the stadium. The walk is pretty easy for able people, especially the downhill, return trip. Lots of places to eat, drink, people watch pre and post match in Berkeley. Are there any at Levi's?
That has to be the biggest plus for having it in Berkeley is the area around the stadium for pre and post game.
any recent news on tickets for MU vs Barca? I gave up early due to gimmicky bundling and jacked up prices but keep hoping they will fall back down to earth a little...anybody have any luck getting reasonably priced tickets lately?
You've totally, totally, totally missed the train on that one unfortunately. Unless people are desperate to sell like the week before the game.
For all the people in the South Bay who won't go to the game due to transportation/parking headaches, they will be getting a ton of folks from SF and East Bay who avoid the South Bay games for the same reason. I hope the prices are reasonable. BART is definitely the way to go if you can do it. Get off at Downtown Berkeley station, walk through UC Berkeley campus to stadium. If you are going to drive, I think best bet is to park south of Dwight / west of Telegraph. It's a hike, but there's an actual chance to park a car sometimes. And to whoever suggested driving from South Bay to and East Bay BART, that's not a bad idea.
bummer, I didn't realize it had sold out. on the off chance that anyone knows where I can get two or three tickets in the $100 range, pm me please.
Yeah I wouldn't get your hopes up on that either. The base price was $90 with fees. And being that it's sold out it looks like the prices are going to be obscene on the resale market. The worst upper deck seats for the game are already up to $175 on Stubhub.
I wonder if Messi & Rooney will play? I keep hearing it's unlikely Messi will be there...if so, maybe demand will drop some, and thus, there will be some cheaper tix available...wishful thinking, I know.
I got two $55 tickets, total cost $160ish, right at 10AM before Ticketmaster cut off the presale and raised the prices later in the day. Lower part of the 400 level endline. For several days, there was an available $90 bundle, including the SJ/OC match, which put you in the 300 level endline for the ManU/Barcelona match. Good luck on the scalper market.
