The spanish announcer said Jermaine was at fault for both goals, How can that be? Yes, the subs were just way off, Lee didn't look tired, Alston took a while to get into the game, Davies was fine, I just disagree with all 3 subs
Well, we were lucky to come away with a point. Very lackluster second half. Still, I wouldn't have complained much ahead of the match if you told me we'd tie. Orlando is due.
Revs choke and blow 3 pts on the road. Where is JoGo? Where is Kobayashi? Can we get Jones back into the midfield where he belongs? Can we sign a damn CB if JoGo is in the Dog house?
I have to agree... Heaps blew this one with the subs. When Davies came off, we were done on attack. By the time they tied it up, we really had little going on going forward. I also thought JJ was a bit at fault on the goals
I just realized that JoGo didn't even travel. I was screaming to put JoGo on for Dorman and get JJJ into that midfield to try and stop the second half bleeding. Why can't we close out games? The final 15 minutes seems to be our Achilles heal.
The announcer was correct. Both goals were on poorly defended crosses in which Jones was poorly positioned and out-jumped (goal 1) and overpowered and out-jumped (goal 2). Bobby didn't particularly impress either on crossed balls. I have a feeling we're going to be seeing a lot more crosses from here on out. For my part, I had no problem at all with the substitutions. I felt that Davies and Nguyen were tired and had been hacked all game. Squad rotation is a good thing overall, and I was happy to see KA, KR, and DF get a run-out. They were not the reason the Revs didn't win. If you really need to scapegoat someone, look at the fluffed chances in the first half. Very impressed again with Caldwell, and felt that this was Bunbury's best game in a while. I liked Rowe's piracy in the second half as well - smart play. I'll have to watch this again, but I rarely feel like the ref had more influence on the game more than in this match. He was the one responsible for letting it get as chippy and ugly as it got. I hope we don't see him again for a long time. Final note: Great crowd at the Brass Monkey in Providence tonight. It's always nice to watch with knowledgeable fans.
My point was the revs may be on an unbeaten run but they are still vulnerable. I've yet to see many convincing performances this year. Maybe against RSL's reserves but the rest have been just getting by type results. If last night's revs were the deepest and healthiest all year, why did they look so labored in the second half? Orlando, an expansion team that has yet to win at home, dominated the revs in the second half. Even up 2 0, I was skeptical the lead would hold. A good team puts them away. Plus, you cant tell me the revs are the healthiest they've been when JoGo didn't even travel. If you are down a starting CB and forcing JJ to fill in there, you've got some health issues. Jones and Shuttleworth were at fault on both goals. Then the subs made by Heaps disnt make any sense. Going 5 at the back? That simply doesnt work. Fagundez was the only good sub but he should never have taken Davies off. Tierney should have come off to play Diego on the wing and leave Lee in. Moving Teal up top was stupid as well, it's like he never learned from last season's failed experiment. Teal isn't a forward, hes a very speedy winger. Yes the revs got a draw against a bad team but getting dominated, giving up that lead and failure to defend crosses concerns me.
Was at the game --- great fun to be with the other supporters there!! The Orlando City Supporters Club sounded good, but with far fewer we did manage to get heard! No way we were 'deep and healthy' last night. The starters were good and having Rowe, Diego and Alston on then bench is great --- but we had no cover for where we really needed it: D-mid and/or Central Back. That is where we hurt last night and to be fair, Jay had VERY little flexibility with the subs he had for what we needed. I loved the JJ vs. Kaka one on ones --- I think JJ won every one of them. And Caldwell was a beast -- a very well deserved 'Man of the Match'. He really helped shut them down AND linked up with our attack very well. For the ENTIRE GAME, the Revs were giving up free headers in the box. I think there were 4 or 5 'over the bar' headers from OC in the first half. Then the same in the second half --- you just can't live like that and not get burned. Very, very tough to lose two points that late in the game, but it's not like OC wasn't knocking on the door all game. We were certainly better in the first half, but the second - even with our starters -- we were getting bested. Jay tried to infuse some fresh legs into the team, but unfortunately couldn't put them where we needed them -- at d-mid and CB.
