Actually I find the exact opposite to be true. On the rare occasions that I'm not able to watch a match later on the same day that it is played, it is those first 6-8 hours that are the most dangerous. Once I get past the first 24 hours I would pretty much have to actively seek the score to get spoiled.
Oh good. I'm cat sitting for my cousin in a couple of weeks and she doesn't have cable, just a Roku. Just made watching the playoffs a heck of a lot easier.
Yes, you'll still have to authenticate to a cable/sat account with NBC Sports Network included. The nice thing about Roku and sports is not that you can go full on cord cutting, but you can eliminate pricey additional boxes. Plus Roku is smaller and more portable. I just have that and an HD antenna on my bedroom TVs.
I have to say I kinda like the Half-time/Post matxh commentary of Geoff Cameron. I think he has a future in this business once he retires. I may sound crazy but I like him better than Howard so far.
I had a 180 degrees opposite reaction. I thought he kept saying the same thing over an over. Hmm. For the record I don't rate Cameron or Howard as color/analyst guys. Freidel is the only American they've employed over in the UK that I thought was a net plus. If we're talking about non-British analysts that are used by Fox/NBC on our side of the pond, I only really like Kyle Martino & Ali Moreno. The rest are meh: Holden, McBride, Lalas, Keller, and the worst of the worst... Wynalda! I'm sure I missed someone.
To each his own. I think he is doing a pretty good job for someone with very little tv experience. I had low expectations and he has exceeded them.
That's a good motto for life: to each his own. Unfortunately it's not often practiced by the vitriolic folks here at bigsoccer. I'll give you that cameron wAs pretty calm and poised. And very well coifed for the occasion! I just didn't find him too insightful.
Has there been a PL Review show in the last 2 weeks? There is nothing on my DVR for the last 2 rounds as I haven't seen any games in the last two weeks and was relying for the Review show to fill the gap.
No and it's pissed me off! So many stupid other shows they out on instead. Sometimes repeats as well. Don't get me going or the nbc fanboys will lynch me.
Filler has been filled with other filler. But mostly NHL playoffs in its normal time-slots. MOTD has been bumped to a few times too.
Yeah but for some us, the Rvw Show is far far far from "filler". For me it's a close second to the airings of my team's matches. The fact that they aired MIB instead of the Rvw Show (and I believe they aired MIB twice in one late night) squeezing out the Rvw Show, really irked me. MIB... now there's some filler! But then again it's home-grown filler so it's king. Do any of you actually watch MIB regularly?
I don't really have time to watch Men in Blazers every week, but find them amusing. Definitely enjoy their Twitter feed. You're just never going to understand that NBCSN original programming is more important than Premier League Productions stock shows. As I've been saying for years now, it's a surprise that the Review Show is on at all because NBCSN produces their own highlights. I mean, does ESPN show an MLB produced highlight program after Baseball Tonight? NBCSN plops it in in the lineup when they have a chance. You should be thankful for that rather than upset that it's not programmed in religiously. Have you contacted NBC with your concerns?
Men in Blazers is not filler; it's quality original programming. Those guys are extremely funny; I make sure to catch their show every week, and I also like their podcast. I was annoyed to find the most recent episode delayed by hockey, a fact on which they commented. (I mean that they commented on the delay, not on my annoyance.) Davies and Bennett never fail to entertain. Thanks to them, I doubt that I will ever stop saying "Queens Park Raisins" and "Michael Carrot".
That's not a fair comparison because MLB has their own network and may not want people to watch Baseball Tonight. The EPL doesn't have their own network competing with NBCSN.
Not sure if this has been talked about on here but does anyone else get the feeling that Lee Dixon doesn't like Arlo very much? Over the last few weeks I have noticed what seems to be a bit of tension between the two. It could just be banter between the two but there have been a few times where it seemed a bit uncomfortable.
Before MLB Network existed, did MLB make a highlights show ESPN could have shown if they didn't want to make Baseball Tonight?
I just saw the promo for 10 live matches on last day which is a good marketing gimmick but stupid, in my opinion, because I count 3 games at this point that will be meaningless and more can become by the final day. What I would like to see is a split screen on one of the channels with 4 most important games on it. Who cares about Crystal Palace vs Swansea.
Yes I have tried to contact them a few times but zero response. I almost thought of walking in the door to their Stamford offices last year (it's next to my son's school) but alas didn't. As for your comments about how obviously NBC rates their original programming more than the IMG shows, I've never disputed that, however I feel that it is: A) Misguided. The quality of the IMG shows are top notch, and for many of us the Rvw Show does better in 1hr than NBC's MOTD does in 3hrs. No doubt more efficiently. Also this year NBC decided to butcher the Rvw Show by eliminating intros, interviews, etc ... so that they can cram more commercials. B) Inconsistent. Some weeks they have bagged the Review Show altogether like a few weeks back when they aired a rerun of MIB instead (already discussed). And then at the other extreme, this weekend they thankfully are scheduled to air the Review show, while deciding to show zero of their own high-profile MOTD shows. Today they decided to air PL Download instead of MOTD... huh? I don't get the value in that, nor how it better serves the general EPL fan base in this country? This was a pivotal weekend for several teams, including 2 of which were relegated. Lastly Kevin, I obviously can't much influence your opinion of the Review Show, but I would ask that you consider refraining from belittling those of us who value it. In return I will continue to not belittle the things that you value, whether it's your favorite team, or theories you may have on how & why NBC makes business/programming decisions.
