National TV game. The Fire have won 3 in a row, but they're still the Fire. Honestly, I have no idea what to expect. Hopefully the pitch will be in decent shape after last weekend.

the game this past weekend was also like their first game in 20 days or something like that. Good news is that they don't have a real big forward to know around against the likes of Besler and Ellis, which is good.

Shipp is in form and Maloney has been looking good too. We've been vulnerable against set pieces and they started this little run on a set piece goal against the Union.

To me it just feels like we're finding our legs on offense, which makes sense because the defense is doing the opposite.
Also, watching Instant Replay, I am wondering if Carrasco will be suspended by the Disco. That could be a blessing in disguise because in my opinion it's time to start Mustivar, which will also help the back four.

This fixture is gonna look a lot different than the last time Chicago was here. I wouldn't mind a similar scoreline, but from what I've seen of Chicago? They've really started to click in a way they haven't for years. So I hope Sporting ruins their fun.

They don't have Chris Rolfe to come crawling back onto the field in order to stop play.

All I care about is SKC putting an old fashioned ass whipping on the Fire. I really don't care if it is pretty or ugly. Chicago is one of the two teams that I absolutely hate to see beat or draw SKC. Of course, the other being Seattle.

    New third kit.

One thing about SKC. They can keep a secret.

Nice looking kit. Lets hope they do better with the debut of this kit than when they first played in the black argyle.

Well Dick's had a women's replica of this jersey in their online store a month or two back for whatever reason.

Dick's leaked it, as did another site that posted a bicycle jersey mock of it.

Suspended for violating the "Mass Confrontation Policy." Sounds scary, like something George Orwell came up with in 1984.

No, he was suspended for violent conduct for striking Davis. The team was warned for mass confrontation of the referee.

Davis needs hitting early and often. I want to see Mustivar for an extended session so it's a win for me.

    Tangential rant:

I feel like people are trying to squeeze a little too much pulp from this Carrasco vs. Mustivar thing. Lots of people are pointing to d-mid as a weak spot, and it is, but it's pretty unrealistic to expect much more. The thing Carrasco/Mustivar provides is an intangible: allowing Benny to play higher, score goals, and put on MOTM performances. Carrasco/Mustivar don't need to be world-beaters, they just need to fill the d-mid spot so Benny doesn't have to.

And aside from that, CB and GK are much bigger issues at the moment.

I don't perceive there to be much difference between the two, but Mustivar's passing stats are really encouraging. World beaters no, competent yes.

Our back four is currently a drawer full of mismatched socks. Having a dmid playing well will make their job easier. Any game where the opponent scores less than two goals is probably a draw or a win, so I think it's actually pretty important considering we're probably not going to get a centerback until summer.

I don't consider this tangential. Indeed, I agree and consider it a crucial point of the first quarter of the season. The worst part about either Carrasco or Mustivar is if neither is on the field. Either one of them enable Roger (and more importantly Benny) to go do their thing.

If PV thought RVDV was coming to town and had to figure out how to play before he arrived, I get the Roger/Benny double pivot. Since that isn't happening, we need to make the DM position work with either of the options and let Benny run the show. To your final point, we have bigger talent needs at this point.

I get that the team plays with a lot of emotional energy, but I'm really tired of SKC players and the mass confrontation - and I hate the growing negative rep.

I was going to say that mass confrontation has hardly ever, if ever, changed the ruling of a ref - but then I recall the home game in 2013 where a PK awarded to the other team (I think it was Houston), was correctly reversed.

Unfortunately, I think that call enabled/re-enforced the tendency for SKC players to do this even more.

Just spend your energy on the game - it's more efficient, more professional, and you might actually get more sympathetic 50/50 calls your way down the road because of it.

But the intangiBle that you reference is arguably more important than either the CB or GK position. For my money: get the ball + keep the ball high = fewer issues from either the CB and GK position. I mean, all are spinal postions, but whatever it is that gives Benny the best chance at being effective (and involving Dom more) is the overarching priority for me. Chances of that being Mustivar are not great, but PV has pulled strings in middle of the field before with good results.

My question is, should we be seeing mustivar over Carassco irrespective of a disco decision.

Edit: also, mustivar/carasco is a situation that exists on our roster right now. Is a new cb or GK walking thru the door tomorrow? I'm not holding my breath.

I was hopeful that we'd nab a CB before the window closed... but that's a small window right now.
