Ok, some of you may not know who i'm talking about. The kids name is Fabio Tambosi and he's a forward/midfielder for Clemson. He has incredible footskills and speed, but his size is his weakness. Will this effect him in going pro? Once again, he has the skills, but no size. I believe h's like 5'5 and 130lbs.

    Tambosi

I'd bet most people that have seen him play know who he is. He was just mentioned in the latest edition of Soccer America for his 3 assist in a game effort.

I don't think his size his going to be a weakness. Richie Williams and Joselito Vaca are both about Fabio's height and both have been successful. Also, I'd bet Fabio is more in the 145-150 lb range.

I played PDL with Fab this summer. He's not even 5'5...more like 5'3. But the thing with him is that, yeah, he's got unreal ball skills...I played on the right of midfield and he played kinda a roaming position and would pick me out all the time...but if a bigger defender who has some quickness can get a shoulder in on him...he struggles a bit. But I loved playing with him this summer...too bad I only got to play with him at home games...he didn't travel once for our away games...and sometimes we had 11 players, thats it.

    Flavio, Flabio .... I don't know

well .... I have seen this cat play and i must tell you that he does have some skills but he is too fancy and does not do much on the field. Also he is way too small to be playing soccer.... when the little kids run into the field after the game we can't never tell where Fabio is ..... but i hope that someone will look at him bc he works real hard....

Hey FIXXXER do these people know anything about soccer !!!! Or JMORE i bet that it was you ...

Ummm I don't know about you, but I'd say Fabio does quite a bit on the field. If I'm not mistaken, he does lead the team in assists. He has also scored some amazing goals in his day as a Tiger! I'll agree with you that he does work really hard. I see no reason why he won't go pro.

Also, please refrain from using double negatives on this message board. Example: "can't never tell where he is."

Are you kidding me? Giving English lessons on BigSoccer?

As far as Tambosi goes, his size is a huge hurdle to any pro aspirations. Don't look for him in the MLS or even the A-League.

He's got ball skills, but I think he plays dirty. Of course, I am a Gamecock student, but if there's one player I hate the most on CU, it's Tambosi. A real pest on the field.

...talk about double negatives!!! An oxymoron to say the least...

JBlaz - this is the best compliment that you could give a player. Yes, he is a pest on the field. Why do you think you can't stand him? He has, and will continue, to abuse your school.

I agree. So is Damarcus Beasley, Landon Donovan, Richie Williams, Joselito Vaca...all these "cats" are way too small to have professional soccer careers...

    Fabio .....

Oh god, what a great way to wake up and read some great posts. Anyway, lets cut to the throat and get down to business. After reading FIXXXER's and JBlazin's post we must see the difference between someone who knows soccer and a lame fan ...... In one hand we have FIXXXER, a soccer wizard, back his arguments up with plany of valid facts and reasons. Then on the other hand we have a sorrow Gamecock fan that uses a lot of "Pathos" to explain why he thinks a gift to college soccer (Fabio) is not a good player. I have been to every SC X CU game in the past 5 years and I can tell you right now that "you" are confusing toughness, passion, respect, sacrificing, and love for Fabio's school with "dirtiness."

If Carolina had a strong conference and tough opponents to play besides CU, they would know what I am talking about. When you watch an ACC match the intensity in those games are unbelievable and that's what differentiates ACC schools to those who are not in any conference....

I would like to make a quick point here .... if Fabio was not good enough to play in the next level he would not have last through the first two years of college ball but hey i think that it will come down to the end of the year and see what happens .... but lets hope that he does prove some ignorant and bias fans wrong ....

This post is not an attack to any fan or an intent to upset or hurt anyone's feeling but if the trash talk already started and there is a full week prior to the BIG GAME ....

Don't get me wrong...I think he is an incredible player...like I said before, I loved playing with him and couldn't ask for a better play maker to be playing along aside this past summer in the PDL. But you gotta admit that at times, and I use "at times" very loosely, he tends to hold onto the ball a bit too long. I think he has what it takes to make it to the next level...hell, I'm hoping to make it to the next level myself and by playing with him, I feel I've improved my all around game as well( had to get back on defense a lot more!!)...but in order to make it, I think he'll need to adopt a much simpler sense of style about his playing.

He's come a LONG LONG way since he was a freshman, grown tremendously as a complete player. He now defends with the intensity that he attacks with. You gotta remember that the kid is Brazilian, they like to hold the ball, go 1 V 1 or 1 V 2. It's in his blood and not always a bad thing. Like I said, he has become a much smarter and more complete player since his freshman day at Riggs Field.

Yeah, of course it's in his blood to hold onto the ball and go 1v1. But I just mean that "at times" he holds onto the ball when a simple one touch pass will get a lot more accomplished...or at least that was my experience from this summer playing with him.

If I were Fabio, I'd take your negative comments and use them as motivation. I almost sense a hint of jealousy in your statement. Seems as if you wish you had a player of Fabio's caliber. As far as being dirty goes, I'm sure you're the cleanest player to ever step on the field.

Good point. From what I've seen of South Carolina, they are strictly a counter attacking team with speed, and they love the long ball. Unlike Clemson, SC is not a pretty team to watch. I'm not a Clemson fan, but I like the way they play.

Hey, OK, maybe I do wish we had a Tambosi-like player on the field sometimes. (Notice I said Tambosi-like and not Tambosi.)

But how are you going to compare him to Beasley, LD, ABMOD and Vaca? Those guys are awesome, and you're kidding yourself if you believe for one second that Fabio is even in the same LEAGUE as them.

Soccerclassic, you're a tool. A "lame fan"? Yes, I'm a lame fan. That's why I've been posting on this game since a couple of weeks ago. I've given Clemson and its players a lot of credit through the years and on this Web site, but, as a USC die-hard fan, it is my DUTY to talk up my boys and claim that this is the year we get the job done.

Meanwhile, all you've done is talk bad about USC and Coach Berson, and half of the time, your arguments are so congested they don't even make sense. If anyone has let their bias get in the way of their reasoning, it's you.

You missed the point. The statement was made that he was way too small to be playing soccer. I used those names to illustrate that small people can and do play at a high level. I did not compare the skills of Tambosi with any of the previously mentioned players....

Tambosi is a good player and he has nice numbers this season as a playmaker - 1 goal and 7 assists in 8 games.

As good as he is, I don't see him playing in MLS for long, if he makes it at all. Tambosi reminds me a lot of Johnny Torres, a very skilled, but rather small player who never could adapt to the physicality of MLS.

Funny that we're talking about Tambosi when he isn't even the third best pro prospect on his team. Ricky Lewis, Doug Warren and Dimelon Westfield ( 9 goals and 2 assists in 8 games) are all more highly regarded by the MLS types than Tambosi.

And, given that he's a natural lefty, I think Chase Hilgenbrink will get a long look from MLS after his senior year as well.

Speaking of Lewis, how most of you know I am very high on, he made the All-Tournament team at the Clemson tournament this weekend. Counting the IU tournament earlier this year and the ACC tournament last year, that's 3 straight all-tournament teams Lewis has made.

Funny, the folks who see him play seem to think highly of him even though he's always overlooked by the All-America teams. The longer the season goes on, the more I feel re-affirmed about how wrong Soccer America and College Soccer News were for omitting Lewis from their pre-season AA teams.

Sandon...agreed on Lewis. I've seen him a few times and he's outstanding.

How are these all american teams determined? Who does the voting? Do they pick 4 defenders, 4 mids and two forwards, and one GK?

Seems to me that all these pre and post season all america teams, etc., are strictly politics and nothing more.
