One Honduran media outlet reports Deybi Flores, CDM from FC Motagua and the Honduran U20 squad qualified for New Zealand is now a Whitecap. (Edit: forget the Honduran media reference, it's official via the team website) Congrats folks, in my estimation this kid is a true *gem*: http://www.diez.hn/inicio/805904-228/vancouver-whitecaps-de-la-mls-anuncia-fichaje-del-hondureño-deybi-flores
the mods allow a variety of commentators and comments- as it should in a free speech forum- the 1 common denominator for all of us wing-nuts is a love for soccer and the growth in the NA markets of the usa and canada- disagreements are all part of posting- and i have followed soccer in NA for over 45 years- back to the late 1960's when vancouver had its first professional fling- you were probably in diapers shiting your pants at the time, if you were even born- 'soccerman' seems like such a misnomer for you
1 - you lie about your history with soccer 2 - you know jack shit about the game of football 3 - you are the biggest fraud on this board 4 - go ******** yourself
a little angry when facing the truth?? - what shit is going on in your life to make you comment like this?? chill and enjoy the debate
agree- you should stop posting against what i say but we do agree on darren mattocks continuation as a frustrating example of a player thinking he is better and more important than he really is- if he scores 10 goals (not PKs), then i will be happy to eat some crow; the west conference has got better and i doubt he has-- even 2 tryouts with euro teams sent him back to the Caps- this the last year on his bloated salary of $242 000 and then he is expendable or more tradeable otherwise, i think the caps have made some good additions and with some good luck, good health of the important players (morales, oliviero, waston, laba, ousted) and more scoring of 15-20 more goals compared to 2014 from 4-5 players, they are capable of placing #3 in the conference and could be a dark horse for a significant run in the playoffs agree?
My apologies for invading your forum. I merely wanted to inquire on the injury status of your player carted off last night. It appeared to be a nasty abdominal injury on the collision. Hoping to hear he is ok.
He was stretchered off with severely bruised ribs. That doesn't sound too bad. He was replaced on the Canadian Nat team for next week: http://www.goal.com/en-ca/news/4173...her-grant-replace-adekugbe-hainault-in-canada
Stinks for him to miss out on National team opportunities, but glad it doesn't seem to be a long term issue.
Sadly no. Robinson seems married to his 4-2-3-1 formation even if it means putting some guys on the wing who are not suited for it (Mezquida and Manneh for example)
it is bruised ribs and he will be training on friday- will probably miss 2 games- good news for sam, bad news for harvey
i would rather see hurtado on the right alongside rivero- more robust, holds the high ball better, shoots better, is faster and more direct at goal than mezquida- lets not even talk about mattocks- the caps MUST stick with manneh and even try him on the right wing (his enigmatic left foot is becoming his professional downfall), but he does get chances and scares the hell out of his opponents as they rush 2-3 players to cover him when he has the ball- goals must come, mustn't they??? earnshaw will get little regular MLS games unless- heaven forbid- rivero gets injured- robert is #5-6 as an attacking option
Attacking option sure, but as an actual ST .... he seems to be #2. With all of those other moving parts in the "attacking" player pool the move just doesn't seem to make sense unless he'll actually get time as a ST (as opposed to a continued flinging of talented young attackers in that slot).
whitecaps are signing another young South american- only 5'2", 22, but seems to have some credibility for scoring http://www.theprovince.com/sports/W...itecaps+another+Uruguayan/10919850/story.html
the caps have a glut of Strikers- rivero, mezquida, hurtado, mattocks, earnshaw, manneh, froese, rosales and now Cristian Techera- too many so something has to give- traded, sent back from a loan (mezquida), sent to the USL Pro team
How do you come up with the conclusion Rosales and Froese and Mezquida are strikers. Attacking midfielders (or wingers in Robinson's formation) is more appropriate. And Rosales, I doubt he even gets a goal this year!
still a glut of 9 players with similar pedigree vying for the starting 3-4 spots- still say that somethings going to give, sooner than later, but certainly by sometime in april- they are only 3 locks to stay IMO- rivero, rosales and manneh- if the new signing, techera, is a contracted player (which is what we have heard), then he becomes a lock also; froese can play with USL Pro; earnshaw was just signed so he is another lock the fighting to stay with the caps is between mattocks, mezquida (a loan player) and hurtado- at least 1 of them will be on the chopping block IMO, especially if robinson wants to continue grooming froese to be a regular top 18 player
Interesting story on how much the BC Lions pay for renting BC Place. It seems to be a very good deal for the team. Wonder if the Whitecaps have a similar lease... BC Lions' Rent Contract for Publicly Owned Stadium Finally Public The BC Lions pay no rent on the first $9 million of net ticket sales to play at BC Place Stadium, according to their contract with BC Pavilion Corporation that was released under freedom of information on April 21. The contract was inked in fall 2011, after the stadium reopened from a $514-million renovation that included a new retractable roof. In 2013-2014, the public-owned stadium reported its latest annual loss, $13.3 million. The public release ends a nearly four-year quest for the document that went through two inquiries with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner. An adjudicator dismissed both PavCo and the Lions' fears of financial harm, should the contract be released, as speculative. Since 2013, the threshold of $9 million in net ticket sales has been tied to inflation and is the first of a six-step rent calculation for the 10 scheduled Canadian Football League home games. After the rent-free $9 million, the Lions are charged 10 per cent on the next million, 12.5 per cent on the next million, 15 per cent on the next million, 17.5 per cent on the next million and 20 per cent on all amounts over $13 million.
