I think a starting calibur CB to replace Per is the top priority. He has been a great player but is getting older and his lack of pace has really exposed us at times. Sell him to a German club to make weight and have a cb rotation of Kosc / New Starter (Subotic) / Gabriel / Chambers.

While there is wisdom in what you say, with Merte being our captain I doubt Wenger will. Look how long he has (still?) stayed by Arteta, who needed to be replaced 2+ years ago.

    Arteta is the captain.

Wumger just sold our captain last year in Vermaelen after putting him to the bench for the last 18 months of his time here.

He threw our stand-in captain to the bushes in Gilberto back in 2007/8 season before selling him that summer.

Our top need no doubt is the midfield. They can't stay healthy. Ramsey/Wilshere/Ox just cnnot stay healthy. We need a solid CM/DM.

The recent history of the captaincy at Arsenal is... less than inspiring.

My wishes as of now: Cesc, Schneiderlin, anything else will be a bonus.

LB? Why would we look at LB, when with Gibbs and Nacho, we may have the best combo at that position in the EPL.

According to a couple of outlets (L'Equipe, El Confidencial), Bellerin has just signed a 2 years extension
with Arsenal and he is under contract now until 2019. Good move.

    Edit: I meant Cech! ;)
Actually, todays rumors are that Arsene wants Cech, Schneiderlin and Subotic. Not too shabby trio.

Haha I was gonna say that ship has sailed although this may be just as difficult a move.

I doubt Cech will last too long at CFC though. He is not going to dislodge Courtois and still has a good 3 to 5 years of football left. The only issue is that Mou and CFC may not want to sell him to us. For the player though, it would make a lot of sense.

Don't see Cech happening unless he is somehow released. No way they sell him to us.
Subotic and Schneiderlin would be a great haul though.

Mourinho already came out and stated that anyone looking to sign Cech would have to pay top dollar, its worth it. IMHO Cech would be our Lehmann solidifying the backline and giving us that big game temperament as well as a lockerroom presence, on field organizer for when we switch to a Gabriel/Kos backline

Cech, Schneiderlin and Subotic would be brilliant, I read somewhere that Cech speaks German as well is this so?

There's just been rumors of us looking at a young LB. First to add depth to the side, but also to bring someone up as an eventual replacement for Nacho. I mean it's easy to foget just how old the dude is. He's closing in on 30.

Nacho is 30 and Gibbs may be about as good as he ever will be.

Yeah, but at this point, this position is the least of our worries.

He's already 30? I wouldn't be surprised if Wenger jettisoned him this summer.

Nacho still has good years left in him -- honestly, I think he hasn't even peaked quite yet. Sagna was starting his decline when he left (god it feels like he's been gone ages now), so I can understand why Arsene let him go.

Actually I just checked Wikipedia -- Nacho JUST turned 29 in February, so he's not quite over the hill yet.

How many players have much of a decline phase. The line between being a viable player for a CL quality team and being out of football is very slim.

29 is ancient for a FB at Arsenal. Debuchy is going to turn 30 as well this summer. Wouldn't surprise me if neither was on the squad two years from now.

The dude just turned 29, he has a couple of solid years left and at this point frankly, for the time being, the LB position is not really a concern.
