Were Santi Carzola 6 inches taller he wouldn't be the same player he is now. Its not by chance that the players capable of dribbling through a maze of defenders, like Carzola, Sanchez, Messi, Maradona are short.

West Ham want Carl Jenkinson with us telling them to pay up £10 million. Sounds like a deal since Bellerin has grown on us and counts as homegrown as well.

Bellerin, Debuchy, Chambers, we are loaded at LB. For Jenks own sake, it is better for him to stay at WHU.

Anyone else see the article on ESPN indicating we are chasing Nevin Subtoic? If healthy he would be a perfect addition to our back line, hopefully this is true.

    No one said cash strapped.

We simply said that Arsenal haven't spent like drunken sailors in the last ten years, like some clubs.

    Good player, njury prone...
however, Mats Hummels is a class above...capable of making a lot of cb partners look better

Hummels would be a dream for me. Him, a dm (Schneiderlin?) and an upgrade at keeper and I'd be over the moon. I'm only confident in us signing a player for 1/3 of those areas though.

Yep we do what we usually do, one super star, one "WHO THE FUHK IS THAT" signing, and one "He's for the 2020 season" signing. Lather, Rinse, Repeat

I think having done it twice isn't the same as usually doing it. We've done a hell of a lot of "Who?" type signings though.

I'm listening to Arsecast Extra and they're talking about the defensive midfielder issue again. They've finally stumbled across the realization that we need a midfielder who can play both next to Coq AND next to Ramsey/Wilshere/Cazorla.

I have very little faith that we will buy anything but another central attacker who he'll try to make into a winger.

Javi Martinez is the only midfielder in the world that can do this. Coquelin is serviceable, but if we're going to use him, we need much better attackers.

Schneiderlein is an option as well. He can play both roles.

That's a little harsh, he has a shed load of appearances this year.

Reports linking Arsenal to El Shaarawy.

"The 22-year-old has been sidelined since the start of February with a broken metatarsal while various injuries have restricted him to just 21 league appearances in the past two seasons, but that has not stopped him from being linked with a move to the Gunners."

    Sounds like a perfect fit...

I appreciate your point, however when the two examples are from the last two seasons AND we are (nearly) out of our finiancial constraints, well, I am willing to get my hopes up.

Why do people continue with the "We won't by what we need" narrative? We have filled every position of need this season. I have no doubt at all that we will strengthen in the next window. We are going to buy a mid, simply because Flam is out of contract, and we don't look to want to renew. We may look at a LB, as well. I say we probably end up with a Mid, and Outside Back, a Winger, and an attacker. Whether or not that will be an Attacking Mid, or Stiker, I'm not sure. We could use one of both, but don't need one of both.

    Realistically.

This has always been a three year plan since Arsene signed that extension. I still hold to the fact that in his final year we will probably have a very strong, and well oiled team. We are taking baby steps. Developing chemistry, while we also add depth and quality.

Honestly, I think our biggest need is a healthy squad. But if you pressed me for reinforcements, This should be our Transfer Market shopping list this summer, (in my opinion) from greatest to least need:

    1) Starting holding midfielder (Coq is great, but we need another one, so why buy a back-up?)
    2) A top striker (we will probably never buy one of these, but that doesn't mean we don't need one)
    4) A top keeper (I'm saying 4, because this isn't nearly as important as the first 2 needs)
    5) Another starting centerback (We may be able to get by with Chambers as our 4th, but I think Per is looking more and more like our 3rd centerback, and I'm not sold on Gabriel / Koscielny yet. This could potentailly wait another year)

Not really. It just seems like anytime he gets going and puts on a string of good games he's out another few weeks.
