I predict we'll win 2-1, after an Alston cross results in an own goal, and a late PK.

On the road at Seattle, their home opener, no JJ, probably no Lee. 2-1 Seattle

Without Lee and Jermaine, we can't control enough of the midfield to make a one striker formation productive. 2-0 Sounders, if we're lucky.

Sounds like it could be another year were we send a sacrificial lamb of a side out to the western hinterlands to be devoured in the first game and witnessed by few back home, as most people will not see it from their school/work night slumber.

i disagree. I think a midfield of Rowe, Diego, Teal, Caldwell and Dorman/Kobayashi/Neumann, behind Agudelo, should be pretty solid in possession. Remember, Seattle will be missing Alonso so they'll be likely playing Brad Evans, Michael Azira, Andy Rose or Zach Scott instead, who aren't better than any of our midfielders.

    I do worry about Clint/Obafemi vs Barnes/Farrell.

This is in regards to another player who was representing the MLSPU. Wonder if it's the same for our player.

I think we'll play very conservatively - early season, on the road, high-powered attacking opposition. I'll say 1-1.

Anybody know if Donnie Smith is ready to go? Game one is often his SuperBowl :)

Not necessarily my opinion, but there are plenty on this board who would like Chris Tierney to have a draining meeting right before every match this year.:D

Though I think the people you're referring to (perhaps me among them) would hope that he was so drained that he wouldn't be able to step on the field. My first thought when I read that post was that I think he has enough trouble in a normal game keeping his concentration on defending and staying in proper defensive shape with the rest of the team, so if he has other things further affecting his concentration going into a game, that would worry me.

Not being a follower of how they do injury reports, does the "hernia surgery 2/10, out 4-6 weeks" mean 4-6 weeks from now, or from 2/10? I'd assume the latter, but figured I'd ask.

Usually it means 4-6 weeks from the original date of the injury being disclosed.

Jay maybe figures that if we start the year with a complete blowout, things can only look better afterwards.

Pretty much all revs so far, 15 minutes in. We're playing like the home side. I like it, just need a sharper edge In the final third.
