I think I would dig an away kit that is the same as this but inverted/ black on yellow. White Barbasol logo.
Two thumbs up for the new jersey. Love it! I'm hoping they wear black shorts with it and not yellow. I've always hated the complete yellow kit (shirt, shorts, socks).
I think it's great because all you Bengals and Browns fans are going to look like Steeler fans wearing that kit.
What's the source of this pic? I think Barbasol would want their name in white. Even so, it would look sharp. Another reason I prefer to wear a yellow kit than a black one; that and wearing black in the summer sun....
Seriously, where did you see this? Always provide your source, please. I agree. Barbasol probably ought to be in white. But I would preorder this immediately if this were real.
Another vote here for black shorts. I know everybody on here loves the all-yellow banana kits. I don’t get it. Perhaps someone can clarify the “fixation.” What’s the objection to black shorts with the yellow jerseys? We have done it before--I thought that combo looked cool back in ’06-’07. As for the argument that “it’s our identity;” isn’t our identity the yellow shirts? Except for a recent Seattle neon 3rd kit and a Sh!tcago 3rd several years ago, nobody else that I can recall has had a yellow shirt. Black shorts adds more contrast to our color scheme. We’re the BLACK AND gold. Did you notice during the ’14 WC how most federations kowtowed to FIFA against their traditions and went monochrome--GER, ARG,POR, ESP, ENG, and NED (these come to mind) altered their traditional scheme. Didn’t that take away some of the enthusiasm/spirit/”pageantry” for you? Even the USA—primary AND change strips--were monochrome. This isn’t the NBA or NCAA basketball. Monochrome is so *boring*. Zzzzzz /end rant, preparing for a good flaming
I believe we "have" to change, due to the rebrand. How much we "have" to may depend on your definition of the word "change" or it may be a league requirement. And yeah...we went to the white due to the midsummer heat...but if the black becomes the alternate, we'd probably only have to wear it a few times per year...but I have no idea what we'd do if we play at Houston mid-summer, which is about the only time the alternate is necessary, right?
The all-yellow, at least for me, goes back to 1996 when a lot of teams (us included) had black-dominated uniforms for home games and white-dominated uniforms for away games. In 1998, we debuted one of the best jerseys we've ever had...one that was white with a lot of yellow. A few years after that, the "away" jersey became the yellow "banana kit." It was the only yellow jersey in the league in a time when a lot of the teams still went heavy on the black/white color schemes. For me, yellow/black doesn't do it. We had that back in 2006, as you said. It was a bad soccer team "mixing and matching" jerseys because apparently, the team liked it...shouldn't the team have been more focused on their play?
If that black shirt is real, and if I were a crew fan (which thank God I'm not), I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Best 2015 shirt so far. Well done. And good luck. (Except whenever playing against another certain team in the heartland).
Back in black. I love it. I don't mind the white ones, but they should be the 3rd kit at best (I loved the ones with the gold stripe down the middle, circa 1998 or so), and was less of fan of the latest ones. We should only wear them when we are away in summer in Houston or some such and can't wear the yellows and wearing black would be silly. But I'm a big fan of consistency/tradition with uniforms: 1) Our primary kit should always be all yellow. 2) Our secondary kit should be primarily black. 3) Third kit can be the Sunday whites, but you can play with that one more.
The SKC jersey looks like a pair of dress socks and the NE color scheme looks like they are trying to win over the local Portuguese population.
Can't say it isn't just a general PS job, but it's definitely not a re-coloring of the yellow. Here's a comparison:
There's more reason to not think they're fake. I found the images from other angles like the primary jersey. massivescoop.blogspot.com/2015/02/black-jersey-additional-images.html
