I wish he was a little bit taller and I wish he was a baller. But mostly I just wish he had a girl who looked good so he would call her. And, of course a rabbit in a hat with a bat. Oh, and a 64 Impala.

Good luck to Hyman on U20's.

It looked like he wasn't going to play... Give him a couple more days to integrate with the team and have him fresh for tomorrow's game with Panama, who is supposed to be toughest opponent in the group. However, the team looked horrible in the first half and could barely complete a pass and he was brought on at halftime. He immediately looked a couple levels above the rest of our players and helped significantly with settling the team down and connecting passes.

The similarities to his games with Fulham were his smart spacing, great touch, mostly simple passes, and one or two bonehead giveaways. The differences were that he had dmid behind him so he got forward more often and he pulled off some nice penetrating passes (I'm guessing these are his intention when he gives the ball away).

He had a nice corner kick that resulted in our goal and one shot from around 20-25 yards that went just wide. The game was very painful to watch and he was one of only a couple bright performances. I'd expect he'd start tomorrow and play as a #8, which should be fun to watch.

B.S., he was integral to our qualification. Most of the goals scored came directly as a result of his plays.

That sucks. My wife broke her collar bone three and a half weeks ago. Still in pain and can barely lift her hand shoulder high. 6 weeks seems like a quick recovery but good if true, needs to get back in the squad.

They should just cancel U20 programs world-wide. The risk of broken clavicles is just too great to continue subjecting players to this. Stupid Emerson, playing soccer for his country. Maybe he'll learn his lesson one day.

The post was meant to be more tongue in cheek, I guess emoji's are necessary for any post that isn't super serious.

Although, it would have been nice if he was not injured/recovering during a period in which there still are about 2 fixtures a week.

I support you on your original post- I don't think Emo gained anything being away from FFC during that time. He is in a very good club situation and (IMO) should have stayed there to fight it out, get more PT and develop against stronger players. The US should have brought in another midfielder that shows promise and needs exposure to scouts. I don't think we should play the youth tournaments to win- we should play them to develop as much of our youth talent as possible, and that means excluding the kids that have already pulled themselves up into a good situation.

As is shown by Emo's case- there was little upside for him but a lot of downside. If German or French clubs are interested in him, they would rather watch him play adults in England than kids in New Zealand.

    CONCACAF...

I'd like to say that we just have to suffer those fools, but I remember a certain moron Nigel de Jong pretty much ending the career of one of our rising stars in a friendly.

    USA...the whipping boys of FIFA.

You do wonder with what happens in concacaaf if our youth teams just punted and the players just focused on club ball if the senior team would actually be improved by that.

What real benefit do these players get other than exposure?

Quantifiably how has it helped us?

If the U.S. just punted except for the senior team whether that would have an impact on concacaaf crap refs. This has been an ongoing problem for many years.

I disagree with just about all of this. I think Hyndman gained a lot from this tournament. He took on a much more significant role than he has at Fulham, with pressure games that we needed results. He got to experience the normal concacaf away games of poor conditions and refereeing.

I do agree that we shouldn't necessarily play to win but putting together strong performances. I'd rather our top 20 players play an attractive style rather than players 6 to 25, hoof the ball up field or put their heads down and dribble into multiple defenders. I'd rather a player like Gall get cut because he doesn't meet the standard of Rubin, than letting him run around like a chicken.

I'm not so sure which is better for clubs to evaluate a player like Hyndman. His role at Fulham is so limited, I'm not sure it is the best way to evaluate him. I think if all of our top players are involved in the WC, Hyndman's full skill set will be on display. I personally learned a lot more about his strengths and weaknesses by watching these recent games, in addition to his play at Fulham.

The problem with making tongue-in-cheek comments around here is that they can be easily confused for other posters' very serious and very stupid comments.

I see your point and it's definitely valid, but on the other hand if the youth teams fail to qualify for international tournaments then the whole lot of them miss the chance to play further competitive matches.
