Just saw this on twitter from @TotalMLS. It is showing the Philly jersey fut the one on the right looks a bit too Crew SC. Could it be? Total MLS @TotalMLS 2h2 hours ago Yep, there you can see the logo will match the jersey color, not necessarily team logo color RT @DEDoop2: @TotalMLS
Definitely more orangey-gold than banana-yellow. If that is ours, it doesn't look like it is the brand color consistency that Precourt stated he wanted as part of the rebrand.
That looks almost gold not yellow. Reminds me a little of this era. If so, not a fan at all and will be complete miss. I believe that was one the first decision AP made after taking control of club. Be a shame if it is a flop.
This is a clear example of soccer uniforms being about the manufacturer, not the club/league. Third Jerseys = good for MLS $$$ Third Jerseys = bad for adidas - time and $ taken away from working on more lucrative clients (especially Adidas Munich errr Bayern).
Ahh. Never even thought about the keeper. Good call. I just assumed it was yellow and on my laptop screen it was washed out.
How are third jerseys good money for MLS? How many third jerseys have you ever seen? We don't need a third kit tbh, our yellow clashes with pretty much no one.
Only 6? Not everyone has a 3rd jersey. I've never bought a 3rd jersey myself, and I agree that we don't "need" one, and our two options don't both clash with anyone (i.e. ESP at the WC). But it's all about $. 3rd jersey=more options for fans to buy; if you don't like the main two, maybe you'll buy a 3rd. "I don't like it any more than you men." Poor business idea by MLS if they're killing off 3rds. Gotta think it would only hurt "jersey sales" if there's one less option from which to choose. Curious as to what the reasoning could possibly be.
[Newbie questions: how long is the interval during which you can edit a post before it says "Last edited x minutes ago"? Does it automatically say "last edited" if someone posts within that time interval? And, most importantly, what is the etiquette for when to state the reason for the edit?]
So I know this may not be a popular opinion, but I'm okay with a more goldenrod/mac'n'chesse colored jersey (I'm using the whole 64 Crayola box) than the banana yellow. After all, it is "Black and Gold Blvd.", not "Black and Yellow". I would be cool if that was our kit next to the Union kits.
One could argue, though, the team was black and yellow before Black and Gold Boulevard was even a thought. I've always felt calling the team "black and gold" when there's nothing remotely gold about the color scheme is pretty stupid, but I'm no marketing whiz so I'm sure I'm missing some bigger picture.
They probably avoid the word yellow because of the connotation of being cowardly. In Japanese olden times the bravest warrior was given the honor of wearing yellow so that he would stand out on the battlefield.
I would have expected with a re-brand and everything to have been one of the first teams out there with their 2015 jersey. Granted, the only thing getting attention is the expansion teams.
It's not Jersey Week yet. MLS has co-opted jersey reveals as a way to hype the final week(s) before the season opener. We will get some leaks, but nothing will be dropped official before end of Feb, early March. MLS made that clear last year.
