I'm growing impatient too, but... ... it is a bad idea to put things on top of your state-issued license plates. http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/4503.21v1
Actually, reading that, I might go ahead and do it. There is nothing in there that says I can't. The sticker would not obstruct the visibility of the plate. This is meant for those smoked covers that I see all over anyway, so if they aren't enforcing that law, they sure as hell aren't going to pull me over for a logo sticker covering an outdated logo sticker. I'm sure there is some legal wiggle room both ways as to what constitutes "covered", but I think it is highly unlikely to ever be challenged.
That's what I'm thinking. As long as they can see the registration stickers, the appropriate "AAA 1234" or whatever you have and the "Ohio" markings, I would think the wiggle room would apply.
Haha, ok. If you want to, go ahead. You can always take a chance that you won't get caught or that a particular officer wont care. However, stickers definitely 'cover' things. And if you put something on the surface your plate, you are obstructing its visibility. The statute doesn't provide exceptions for 'wiggle room,' or 'obstructing nonessential parts,' or 'I just really like my sports team so much I'd like to put a sticker on my license plate.' If the police run your plates, see what type of license you were issued by the BMV, and then see that you have plates that don't match the ones you were given, you've created a problem for yourself. I don't see why you'd risk getting pulled over and/ or cited, even if the risk is small. Just wait for the new logo thing to be sorted out.

I believe that a decal would be in violation of the state law, therefore establishing probable cause for a traffic stop (ie, if you're a drinker, I wouldnt ). But, would any decent Cop write a citation for it ? Probably not, but I bet a state trooper would.
Also, the minute you leave Ohio, you'll be judged by the laws of whatever state you're in. Mrs. Minnman, for instance, was ticketed in NY state because the highway patrolperson said she couldn't tell which state the plate was from. One can assume that the highway patrol are pretty well trained on how to ID license plates from various states, but still. For the record, the plate has one of those plate border covers on it from the dealer where we got the car. They're ubiquitous. But, technically, it did obscure part of 'Ohio.' I snapped it off. I'm sure may of you know this, but the top three states for tickets? Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York.
I had a co-worker at my last job who was a big car guy from the east coast. Apparently there is a big thing about trying to drive coast to coast in record time, and a lot of people that do that will bypass Ohio, even though it makes the route longer, just because of that.
Yeah, you could have had YSA.... But I'm going to have to wait anither year for mine, as I renewed for two.
Can't you just pay like $10 to get your current tags updated with the new logo? I think that's what I'm going to do.
I have my invoice in front of me: $89.88 to keep current plates. $100.58 for new plates. $110.58 for new plates with the same letters/numbers
Fans wishing to update their current Black & Gold license plates with the new badge can do so for the price of $11.75 plus postage. More information is available via the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. http://www.columbuscrewsc.com/news/...s-new-club-badge-available-beginning-tomorrow
I'll wait a year to get the new plates, I just spent the money to renew my current plates right before the Crew announced the new plates.
Did you have the old logo plates ? New plates on order..will see if they get through the censor! Went from non Logo, non personalization to Logo and Personalization. My invoice +50 for the personalization +35 for the logo..
Yes, the bicentennial version of the plates, I once drove alongside a car near the stadium that was one letter ahead of my own.
That seems much more likely since I'm sure Car2Go or any such large corporation order/renew such things in bulk, so their entire fleet is probably a contiguous stack of plates. that were processed together to 'one owner'.
