Yep, I'm an idiot. I keep calling him Molina. I think there is/was an academy player named Molina maybe. Sorry. And yeah, they were saying Rodriguez should be here tonight. It's all paperwork. Miranda's paperwork was done yesterday I think. edit...I called him Molina again. Not trying to be funny. It would be easier if he would just change his name I think.
I'm not sure what they expected on the first day. If they were going by previous first day's then they were surprised because there was no intense running in previous years. Team jogs, but not long yardage competitive stuff like yesterday. The did the same kind of thing today except it wasn't around the perimeter, it was around poles set up at different locations on the pitch. Teams of 5 or 6 at a time. Younger guys tended to be first, but Rico held his own. Corey - not so much, some of the zoom of zoomzoom is missing. Most of the other stuff is pretty much the same, but Sandy Stewart plays a huge part in the training.
Thanks Nigel for the 2nd day report. From the sounds of it at least we won't be ran off the field by any opponents in 2015. I noticed Rico wasn't fazed by the first day runs. Dude looked like he could go 90 minutes already.
This guy Owen Coyle, I think he's an English trialist, scored a very nice goal against Tyler today. Hope he makes the team.
He's tired of people saying that Garrido is gonna take his spot and that he is done because of concussions. He's certainly a warrior.
Ask the boys if they think there will be a work stoppage. Seems like the Houston guys are smart to not mouth off with some ill-conceived union talking points.
Rico's dad was at training a couple of years ago and told me that in addition to all of the Dynamo training he swims laps in the afternoon.
that Lovejoy kid-is he related to Ducks' hockey player Ben and MLL lacrosse player Matt? I recall they had a soccer guy related to them but could recall if it was a brother or a cousin or if this kid is related to these guys at all. Anyone know?
Like that OC is getting the competitive juices flowing early. Get these guys in the mind set early that we aren't resting on the idea of rebuilding... He wants to win this now and dominate. Dom left a winning idea, but it's up to OC to build on that and move us past the slump we are in.
Hearing that Rico is looking strong, I can't help but continuing to return to this line-up. If we don't like our center defenders & have 2 stud defensive midfielders, that's ok. Let's run with it. I'm making some assumptions here (mainly that Miranda & Rodriguez live up to my expectations....which are based on very little) but this has the look of a very formidable team.
Hear me out here since we're just talking: how would you guys feel about a Brad Davis at striker experiment? I'm just trying to rack my brain on how to get Beasley, Brad and Corey on the field at the same time on that left side.
4-3-3 BD11----BARNES-----MIRANDA ---DMB------------OGB ---------GARRIDO C.A.--TAYLOR--RR--SARKODIE -------------DERIC
The only way all three get on the field at the same time is if Sarkodie is hurt and we have Ashe at RB, Beasley at LB, and Brad in midfield. I can't comprehend why anyone would rack their brain to try to get Corey on the field based on last years performance.
It's really more about Beasley at LM than Corey at LB. I should've specified. I was going to proposed trading Brad for a starting CB but didn't want to deal with the hate mail.
5-3-2 ----------Barnes---Torres -------BD11------------OBG DMB-------Garrido-----Sarkodie -------Taylor--RR--CB ----------------Deric
Garrido doesn't know any English from what I saw at that first practice and the meet the players thing. The other player would translate for him.
Reports are saying that Carlos Valdes is out of Philly heading to South America. There's currently a negotiation taking place. Well, Texas is in Southern America. Right? Straight swap for Bruin???? I'll take it! Its fun to dream.
Ive long said that Corey at LB, Davis at LM and Run at LF would be all kinds of badassery. Really wish we could do that. 4-3-3
FYI, Dynamo are slowly moving up the allocation order. We may be in a position to use it as midseason
I hate to say this but... don't be surprised if Coyle uses Bruin a lot. He loved Kevin Davies at Bolton, granted he is a better player than Bruin, but their movement (or lack of), and mentality is almost identical. At least he knows how to get a lot out of immobile players! I actually think Bruin is more mobile than people give him credit for, he just looks awkward. As for those putting up formations, OC almost always used a 442. I know he said he would try other formations, but just expect the 442 to start with. Anyway, for those of you who have posted training information, it has been greatly appreciated.
