That does bring up the fact that the dollar is getting stronger when compared to euro, for all the good it does us (note graph although that trend line probably can't continue): https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=1eur+to+usd&nfpr=1
I ain't counting down chit, when I read "self-imposed deadline" I clicked x on the article and accepted their cheapness as given. From my persepective it's a rouse to drum up credit for placing the 2nd or 3rd higest bid for Torres.
On the plus side, I don't know how much Drew Moor can do, but he's at least participating in warm-ups: (From the Rapids' facebook page.) Edit: someone asked about him, and the club responded: "Colorado Rapids Soccer ClubDrew was out stretching with the players this morning. He's progressing very well, but not up to the more physical stuff just yet. Great to see him back out there, and thanks for asking."
Basically nothing about this off-season (besides Hinchey's b.s., obviously) truly suggests to me that the Rapids' brain trust thinks last year was anything but an aberration that can be pinned on injuries, inexperience, maybe loss of confidence, and bad luck.
Nick LaBrocca re-signed with Rapids. Think we'll be seeing less of him on the pitch this season. I ran into Nick Labrocca...he's re-signed with the #Rapids96 and will be back for 2015.— Daniel Boniface (@danielboniface) January 27, 2015
I'm happy with this. Good sub/injury backup. Not the sort of player you build around but I imagine he is good in training and works very hard.
Why? Was looking forward to not seeing him on the pitch this year. Guess this is even more of a sign those Argentinian midfielders aren't going to show up.
I am waiting to see what LaBrocca's new contract looks like. If he is back at a discount, then I don't have any issue with both. rod.
He was on 153K last season. He'd have to take about a 33% discount for this to be anywhere close to worth it.
I was about to go nuts over the Rapids carrying identical players for over 300k in cap space (I think Cronin is on ~180k and LaBrocca was on ~150k) until you mentioned this. Now I'm just trying to take deep breathes while repeating "Please let Nick's new number be something under 100k, please let Nick's new number be something under 100k..."
And do you know that he hasn't taken that type of discount? I am not saying he has or hasn't, just that I need to see the final number before I can call it OK or a waste. If he is on the pitch for a significant number of minutes, then I fear for this season. Has great energy, but there should be better options at this point.
They prefer the "High-end" Window shopping then head over to the wholesale clearance everything must go bin to actual spend the money.
Is there? Not being sure what he is going to make, he might be the best option. I am a fan, just not as a starter. If he is paid like a starter, then I agree. If not, then his experience, energy, and occasional strike is of value.
Oh who didn't see this coming. #Rapids pursuit of big-name designated player not dead, but has hit snags. Might have new star by start of reg season, but not by Feb 1.— Mark Kiszla (@markkiszla) January 27, 2015
Imagine the market for MLS quality starting midfielders to include the entire worlds supply and its not hard to see options "better" than Labrocca. I was also pointing out the the demand is also suppressed by clubs like the Rapids unwilling to spend. I think the board has his "value" right when they spectacle that its less than last year.
Rapids have two RB's on trial, Wes Knight and Ben Newnam. http://blogs.denverpost.com/rapids/...wo-trialists-right-fullback/26606/?source=rss
Even worse was the follow up. Hit a dip...now???? Nothing happening. User Actions FollowMark KiszlaVerified account@markkiszla Pursuit of marquee designated player can be roller-coaster ride for any MLS club, and #Rapids have hit dip in the ride.
Crap and tomorrow I planned to post the DP "Excuse" non signing will be do anytime now. The only Dip is us that continue to suffer through this nonsense.
