I realize it's a highlight reel but those are some damn beautiful passes. They show not only his ability to drop a 50-60 yard pass onto a teammate's foot but also how well he reads the game. Just picking out and deciding to try some of those passes takes great field vision and awareness. The last pass to Suarez for a goal was sublime.

I'll be interested to see how some of our boys handle a 50 yard ball like that. In my mind's eye I see Zardes "trapping" it ten yards away, directly to the opposing center back. Then again, in my other mind's eye I see Robbie Keane taking one of those on the volley and sending the opposing team's goalie to the locker room for a concussion test.

Just watched the replay of Liverpool and Chelsea. Gerrard had a pretty strong game. Lots of accurate one touch passing, hitting open players on the wings, hit a 35 yard screamer that the goalie had to fly to tip over the bar, and hit the post with a nice placement shot. Subbed out at minute 70 though. He will fit our tico-taco style perfectly. Now if only we can get some midfielders to play it with him.

Nt sure if you're being sarcastic here or not. That was actually pretty typical of GZ when he tries to touch the ball more than once. He's never quite sure where it's going. In that case it magically setup for him and he buried the shot. I think he's actually at his best when he's getting into space and shouting one-time off of a well placed ball. Anytime he has to control the ball before he shoots, he's unlikely get the shot that he wants.

The kid scored 16 goals, he has talent. Do you want to argue that he has a beautiful first touch? You lose that battle my friend, nine times out of ten. [/otherguys]

That's something you can work on, though. I remember doing drills for just exactly that by a private coach my dad hired, and it helped my first touch immensely. He would toss the ball in the air and he had me trap the ball at my feet repeatedly.

I saw the prices too. I didn't know if it was the price of his jersey or the price of his contract.

You know it's a slow offseason when the announcement of what number a player is wearing counts as news. The season can't start soon enough..

I have bought tailor made shirts for less. Hell, I once paid less for a tailored three-piece suit, admittedly that was because they used the wrong fabric and they only charged me material, but still.

How much is the least expensive season ticket? Compare this absurd price for a shirt.

Sure hope there are enough Anglophiles to buy these...

BTW: Joey Saputo is now complaining that TFC and LAG are endangering MLS with our "big signings." So its now Joey "Color me cheap" Saputo lining up with the small market crowd. Should never have let him into the league.

This chaps my hide. Obviously, whoever is in charge of Galaxy marketing handles Galaxy merchandizing as well and this price gouging crap is really disdainful to fans. I went to SHC a couple weeks before Christmas with the intent of getting some championship gear to send to some family members that live out of state. All the championship gear -- including the generic "MLS Cup 2014" scarf -- had been marked up. Do these guys not understand supply and demand?

There will be some people that grossly overpay just to rock a Gerrard shirt, but most anyone that follows football closely enough to care about Gerrard coming knows how much shirts cost and will turn up their noses at spending an extra 50 extra bucks on a shirt just because the letters on the back are arranged a certain way. That is really disdainful of fans and catering intentionally to an uninformed audience.

Brand Beckham > Brand Gerrard. How are they logically planning on selling the jerseys for this much!?

I suspect they are hoping to get a bunch of fans from the UK who don't have any idea what things cost in the US. For the next six months, Galaxy marketing is likely to target these "new" UK-based Gerrard fans in hopes of bringing in dollars from an, as yet, untapped source. I have no idea if they are right or wrong in their assessment, but I'll be sitting this one out.

When I saw the prices I figured it must have come from a non-soccer person. $170+ for a jersey? Isn't that what a hockey jersey costs? It seemed a little fishy to me. Either way it's shitty.
