Yeah, I think like Magee with Chicago, Colorado is going to build the nucleus of their team around one of our role players. Any agent worth their commission knows that and will extract maximum value for their client. Good for the players, good for the league, bad for LA. It’s a bummer, but given the choice of benefactor or beneficiary I’ll take the former.
Who knows, maybe he loves skiing or boarding. One thing for sure is cost of living in Colorado is probably lower than around LA. His money from his potentially last professional contract would definitely go farther than here.
Housing costs are almost assuredly lower, however, many other costs, heating, cooling, having multiple season clothes, etc are much higher than they are in the South Bay area of Los Angeles county.
I moved to Colorado from Orange County a few years ago, and having to buy a few jackets and sweaters really hasn't exactly put me in a financial burden Everything is generally cheaper here...homes, land, gas, food...and since we have seasons, we don't run our A/C or furnaces 365 days a year here.
Just as a note, you're not allowed to go skiing or snowboarding while you're contracted to MLS. That's a pretty standard provision for most pro sports contracts.
